I am going to be an anesthesiologist

Also, congrats to everyone who matched this year

Radiology here I come!

Yesssss, I matched!!

Just curious, for people applying for a prelim and advanced spot, did it say "you matched" once, or did it say "you matched" twice? I just got once.

Good luck to those of you in the Scramble. I hope you get a better position than you hoped to match.

AS FOR ME: I payed thousands of dollars and endured months of agony to read this one line, with four words and an exclamation point.

"Congratulations! You have matched."

I am SO happy that I will be catching babies for a living (and doing other things). :)

Bless God! Bless God!!! Bless Him!! I matched!!!!!!!!!! :biglove: :biglove:

I'm officially employed!
Come Thurs, I'll know where

Congrats, my fellow classmate :D

THANKS! Congratulations to you as well! Its a good day!

Tauras: I still have a place in my heart for ortho but rads was a better fit for me. I think I was holding on to ortho just because I was interested in that field since high school.

I assume reading the sentence,"Sorry, you did not match," would be much, much worse, no?

You have chosen wisely. I met 5 people on the interview trail who were either ortho attendings or ortho residents and switched into rads. Very surprising.

Is it me or does it seem more competitive this year for spots?

For example, rads only had 3 cat and 7 advanced spots that went unfilled. I believe it was much higher last year.

Taurus, forgive my ignornance, but can you explain those numbers? For instance, the numbers present for emergency medicine?

Addendum:

Oops, never mind...I see another thread posted in this forum that explains the numbers.

Me too!

Congrats to everyone!

Yeah it did seem especially competitive this year. Some thought that there would be a much larger number unfilled because more people were holding on to lots of interviews.

Congratulations everyone!!!
Im going to give the scramble a try.:xf:

i did not and i am sick

I would pay double to read this line again for the first time. I am so giddy! I want to frame the thursday email!

I did not match. I am hoping that I will fare better in the scramble as programs will have less time to noticed the time frame of my credentials and will, I hope, focus instead on their quality.

Did not match despite 12 program ranks. Now I feel like a poopy!
Average student overall.
And no, I am not some weird freak.
Go figure :(

Which field if you don't mind my asking?

All is not lost. Try your best with the scramble. There are still osteopathic programs with openings (including prelim years + traditional years. You need to contact the programs directly). At least start your intern year and apply to spots in your field as they open up. You might even want to change your field. Take your step 3 as soon as you can into your intern year because programs that open up spots prefer that you have the exam completed.

Matched! Congrats to everyone else who matched and good luck to those entering the scramble....it's on St. Patty's Day so that's gotta bring some luck! :luck:

oh yea, at worst, i'll be a radiologist

Lots of radiologists in this thread.

I can tell you that if you land an advanced, but miss a prelim that it will say...

"Congratulations! You have matched into an advanced position, but did not match into an internship."

Because thats what mine said. :(

I Matched!

Of note: I have had personal experiences with scramble. A very close relative did not match, despite being an excellent candidate. At that time, he was sure that it was the worst thing that ever happened to him. Now, he is sure that it happened for a reason because he is happier than ever. My point is that it will all work out for the best.

Count me in as another future radiologist!

YES! Going into Peds means it would have been a pretty big shock not to...but it's nice to remove that level of uncertainty from the equation.

It's even better to say "I've got a job, how 'bout them apples, US Economy!?!"

Me too!! Now I have officially graduated from slave to indentured servant, woohoo!

Good luck to everyone in the scramble :xf::xf:

I matched into surgery, so I did the complete opposite
