Is AA a good thing?

Ok so I just read an article where it says that they are using a sort of AA (affirmative action, if you didnt know) to get medical students of the minorities that are seen in medicine. I am not sure but I think they are lowering the requirements for them, (ie. mcat, gpa) and dont quote me but I think some schools are giving full scholarships to them even though they are less qualified. Well just wondering what you guys think about this situation, and if anyone has experienced this first hand?

wow seldomseraphim, you're the first person to ever bring up the debate on AA. good lord man, do a freakin search for AA or affirmative action and read. this topic has been discussed ad nauseum.

what's next? are you going to start a thread on DOs vs MDs?

btw, i'm asian, i don't like AA, but lowly medical students are the bottom of the totem pole and we're premed so we're even farther below. making a big fuss about AA wont' do any good.

the secret to getting into med school regardless of race? high GPA, high MCAT with a splash of clinical experience and community service. that's all you need to know.

Bro I'm going to give you some good advice. Delete your account and start a new one while you only have 18 posts. You aren't going to be taken seriously on SDN anymore

Why would I start a Do vs. MD? An MD is clearly better there is not debate needed.

We need to add "blantant trolling" as another fourm option so that if people are really bored with the pre-med talk, they can head over the toll fourms and engage the little bastards with some flame posts. This will keep them penned up in one section like the little animials that they are, and if people want to head over to the petting zoo and feed the trolls they can do so without other people having to listen
