Waitlist letter in NJ.

Not sure what I should do at this point.
Part of me says: "Yea, go for it"
Other part of me says: "You may not find out until August, is it really worth it?". Dont know.
Any ideas?

Some of the applicants who were waitlisted last year actually were contacted by e-mail on May 12 and asked if they were still interested in attending Cornell. Then, within a few (2) days, their acceptances came. So, if you are really interested in attending, I certainly think you can wait it out until then. Also, I don't know if it works or doesn't work, but I would definitely send them an update if you have anything to add and/or a letter of intent--at least, you are keeping your name in front of them and they have to keep taking your file out to add things to it. I wouldn't send more than 1 or 2 things though--you don't want to become a pain in the a**. Wishing you the best of luck!!!!

Thanks Madame. I will do that.
Great advice.

I called admissions (again...) a couple of minutes back and the lady said, yes, all decisions have been made and they were mailed out on Tuesday.
I havent seen anybody post that they received emails on tuesday(or wednesday) and so am assuming, they didnt send out any more acceptances after last friday....
Am in Chicago... so havent heard anything yet... so i still dont knwo if its a reject or atleast a waitlist...(at this point , with no acceptances, a waitlist looks really good...🙁 🙁 )

Yea, so i dont know why I am still posting..
peace y'all..

Hmmm - well, I interviewed on the Tuesday before last Friday. That must have been a very quick consideration of me and the rest of the interviewees last week - that's only two days to make the decisions and get them to the admissions office...

I feel like I was on the same boat, but on the opposite side of the spectrum.
My interview was in Nov (quite a while ago), that by the time march came around, they had already forgotten about me
Anyway, good luck to everyone and congrats to those accepted.

Waitlisted in CT. Interviewed in the beginning of October.

I searched the forums to see what people said about the waitlist last year. According to the posters that called the office, the waitlist is about 100-150 people and about 20-30 get off of it. Last year, students accepted off the waitlist either got an email or a phone call, and they didn't start hearing until ~May 12th. Also, some posters mentioned that ppl had called to find out where they were on the waitlist (near the top, etc), which is interesting b/c the waitlist letter says the waitlist isn't ranked. I wonder if they would be willing to give us an idea of whether or not we actually have a chance of getting in...

is it just me, or does it seem like cornell waitlisted waaaaay more than 150 people this year? i called the office this morning, and i was told that there are "quite a few people on the waitlist"...call me a pessimist, but i would take that to mean at least 300-400 have been offered a spot on the list. (maybe half of these people decline their spot?? that's quite a lot, though!)

she did say that ~20-30% of the class matriculates from the waitlist each year.

Waitlist in CA.. oh well..

I think in the end it can't be that many people on the waitlist. According to the letter they re-review files. They would decrease their workload and increase efficiency if they didnt have to re-review hundreds and hundreds of applicants all over again.

Although I mean they could just be saying that and have already "secretly" ranked applicants.. but thats just conspiracy theory..

Where in the US are you located, tkdusb?

Also, when did you interview?

New York City. I interviewed in mid-September. One of my interviews was less than 10 minutes. My other interview was 25 minutes, during which my interviewer stopped to take a phone call, and also stopped to take a nap.

I'm fairly certain anyone who hasn't received anything by now will receive a rejection. I think they sent out e-mail acceptances last Friday, and waitlist letters at the same time. After that, they sent out rejections. Kirexhana, who is in California, received his waitlist letter yesterday. I received my rejection in NYC today. They had to have been mailed out atleast a few days apart.

oh NO! i was rooting for you... 🙁 i thought you would have gotten that second batch of acceptances (if there were any). i'm so sorry. they don't know what they're missing out on. 😡

Aww man, I'm hoping you get in. It's not so bad, I'm glad I didn't get waitlisted. Then I would have just been nervous until August...

Ya know Kirex, it can be like this... just like this... always. 😉

You're probably right. I just wish they had an online way of checking so we didn't have to live in "mailbox suspense."

So what is the consensus? how many folks are on the waitlist?

Bumping the question? Anyone know?

anyone else not get anything?[/QU
This happened to a few of us last year. We didn't get our waitlist letters until at least a week after everyone else had heard.

....and? What was the end result for those late waitlisters ("latelisters?")?

At what point during the year did you get your acceptance?

Although I won't ask specifics, I understand if you abstain from answering the questions: Were your numbers on par with their averages?

So i called admissions and apparently the waitlist is not ranked.. thats wht i was told. and calling once or twice between now and august is a good idea. (thats wht i was told...) and dont overcall cos thats a bad idea...
can anybody find out the total number of ppl waitlisted...
i know somebody had posted that they take 20-30% of their class from the waitlist. which is 20-30 ppl .. out of...????
So anyway best of luck y'all... (this is my only semi-positive decision so far.. rest all rejects...so yea all my eggs are in this one fragile basket...)

Briefly: May acceptance, and yes. I PM'd you

Sounds like no news is good news - I hope at least a waitlist is on the way!
