If there's anyone out there who didn't do so hot on the PAT section of the DAT like me (I got a 15) don't worry about it (as long as everything else is okay). Only one school asked me to retake the DAT and they are notorious for placing a lot of weight on that section, but everyone else has told me they don't weigh that section too heavily and that the studies and research done show there is not a strong correlation between your score on the PAT and how well you will do in the pre-clinical lab courses or as a dentist. Of course, all things said and done, if there are 2 applicants with equal qualifications, except for the PAT score, they will take the one with the higher score.

However, I have had 6 interviews already and been accepted to 4 of the schools (Case Western, U of Maryland, Tufts, and Boston). And I'm expecting to hear from Nova soon. They made it sound like I would be accepted within the next week or so.

I also have an interview with UNLV coming up.

wat was your other scores on the DAT?

Anyone else out that with similar experiences?

My other DAT scores:

AA: 21
Reading: 25
QR: 22
TS: 19 (Bio: 18, G. Chem: 19, O-Chem: 20)

Overall GPA: 3.52
Science:~3.25

Well certainly with scores like that you don't have to worry about your PAT. Good job. Low PAT won't kill you and some schools exclusively look at science score others on academic, you have done splendidly on both. I had 17 on my PAT which wasn?t too hot either but so far no school has asked me to retake it. So I think the answer is :it depends, if you have solid other scores +nice GPA then you don't have to worry but if not then i guess you'll have to retake.
I remember reading a nice post some time ago, and the poster was explaining some of the potential benefits and correlation between PAT and success in Dentistry. While I don't believe in tests, i must say that PAT resembled many of the tasks that I am doing as Dental assistant. But then again many of those things can be learned.

Believe it or not, my friend got in with PAT score of 13 🙂

I know someone at UPenn w/ 16 or 17 on the PAT.

there are some schools that doesn't really look at the PAT score as much

My PAT was 16 and I got into 4 very good schools.....BUT all my other scores were pretty solid (20/21's) and my GPA a 3.55. I think if you're weak in just one area it won't matter as much.....Not everyone can be good at everything....

Yep, I just got into UNC with a 14 PAT other scores

19- AA
22- Reading
QR - 13😕

I just decided I wanted to go to Dental school this June (I've been working since undergrad for 2 yrs). Took DAT in August and didn't have time to retake it before the Dec 1st decisions were made - glad I didn't waste the money. So if the PAT ( and in my case PAT and the QR) are your only weak pts - it shouldn't hurt you much.

I scored a 16 on my PAT and was accepted to NYU. The DAT is not all they look at.

Gen. Chem: 20
Org. Chem: 20
Biology: 19
Reading: 17
Quant.: 16
PAT: 16
