I'm getting ready to shell out a bunch of money for the Berkeley Review prep course and I was wondering what the feedback was from those who are currently taking or have recently taken the course?

I know the books are great for the most part, but what about the prep course itself? What did you like about it and what didn't you like about the course? Thanks!

This course generally gets good reviews. The reason why it's fairly easy to recommend, if you want a course, is because most of the classes are taught by the owners and not random people.

Review of the UCLA course:

that is not true

about ~30% of the lectures are taught by undergrads or who is still in school who have taken mcat, about 25% by grad student and about rest by a prof. teacher at least in my class.

Huh, I thought at the very least most of the classes were supposed to be taught by professors. Where did you take the course? Maybe the owners mainly teach in Southern California?

Yes and I'm curious as well since I plan on taking the seminar in Irvine this summer.

this shouldn't prevent you from taking a class though since they are all very knowledgeable. besides, you learn the most from the materials and the amount of time you put into it and not by the teachers.

The quality of instruction at TBR was the difference maker for me when it came to deciding between taking the prep course and doing the home study thing. As some others have said on the forum, certain instructors have the ability to explain things in ways that are very clear that others may not be able to.

Good timing, because I've had to post information about the courses for Test Prep Week.

The current Irvine class has Todd (owner/founder) teaching most of the physics and general chemistry. The rest are taught by Cody who graduated in 2009 and is resume padding before applying this summer. The physiology is taught by Chelsea (who I know), and she's long out of school. She's a researcher at the medical school and a summer teacher for one of their special programs. Dale (owner/founder) teaches the rest of the biology, and he's been at MCAT for 20 years. He taught at Cal before that. Professor Santos (current Pepperdine teacher) teaches some of the organic chemistry. Todd and Alex teach the rest. Alex is a career changer who finished her post bac program and is teaching during her application year. Dr. Lindshield (verbal) is a practicing physician who wrote the class handouts and has been teaching since the 90s. The only undergraduate is Kate (who teaches four verbal classes), and she is not your typical undergrad.

Do you know if it will be the same lineup for the Summer term in Irvine?

The only definite every time in Irvine is that Todd and Professor Santos will be teaching. Dale is also highly likely, but because he travels into town, you see him only a few days for a couple massive four-hour bio sessions.
