While I agree that better numbers make it easier to get through this process, and having been accepted with far below average numbers I can say that your application is not only about numbers. True, alot of schools use your numbers first to screen you, and I have been rejected from my share of schools based on my GPA. There are, however, some schools that will initially evaluate your application as a whole with consideration given to ec's, numbers, and other factors. I was fortunate to find a school that I really liked and that accepted me based on my whole app not just my numbers. Schools do use your numbers, but that is not all they use.

Good Luck to everyone in this process!!!

I don't think so. If I was an over-achiever, I would have retaken the MCAT to get above a 30. I had to work hard for my 29 studying 5 hours a day for 2 months. My highest score on the 5 practice tests I took was a 27. I was lucky to pull off a 29. As I understand it, you got a 32 on it so I don't know what you're talking about.;)

Why do you even say this? Look at your stats.

well, you have to see the story behind the stats: 5 the 7 Cs i have are in science classes; i had a repeat-delete in gen chem 1, and there is a steep downward trend in my post-bacc, when i took most of my pre-reqs. yes, there are reasons, and i gave those in my essays.

last year, i was crying over my MCAT results and asked a certain moderator on a certain "older" site what i could do, and he said to the effect of : "it's doubtful you'll ever get in, even if you did a master's, even Osteopathic schools, because of all the Cs you have. sorry."

and that was that. i felt decimated because he was someone who was obviously more knowledgeable about the process, and therefore was *the* authority on getting in. i was dumb enough to give up the idea of going based on what some a$$clown said, and started studying for the GRE and LSAT. good thing i never sent in my apps to grad school and law school because as it turns out, maybe getting Cs isn't that bad after all. i have my family and my pre-med advisor for all threatening me if i didn't apply.

thus, if i can get in, anyone can. and i hope everyone does, because we all deserve to do what we love.

BUmedic,

Hey I got your IM while I was in a meeting. Congrats on ur acceptance at OSU! I'm happy for ya =)
