Hey, I am a pre-med graduate working for the year before applying to MD/DO school. I believe I have the stats for both but DO school is more up my alley from what I can tell (specifically the greater focus on holistic medicine).

Other than ease of entrance and curriculum, what differences exist between MD and DO school: Is DO school any easier? Is financial and/or merit aid easier or harder to get for one? And finally, no offense, but is it worth doing DO if I can likely get into an MD school? Thanks! 😀

Hello, I am an American planning to study Dentistry in (you guessed it!) America. I am not the biggest fan of the country, however, and there is a very good chance I will not spend the rest of my life here. Is it possible to make use of an American dental degree abroad? I know Canada is OK but what about the rest of the world? THANKS!

Make up your mind.

Oh boy.

why would you ask if you should chose MD>DO when you previously stated that "DO school is more up my alley from what I can tell (specifically the greater focus on holistic medicine)." ? -_-

Significantly easier. It's basically undergrad all over again.

It's even easier than undergrad. There's nothing to it. Just a few little open-book quizzes. Come on in. LOL.

For the truly curious:
Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine
PART I INTRODUCTION TO CLINICAL MEDICINE
Osteopathic Medicine.
Founded in 1892 in the American heartland by the physician Andrew Taylor Still, osteopathic medicine was based originally on the belief that manipulation of soft tissue and bone can correct a wide range of diseases of the musculoskeletal and other organ systems. Over the ensuing century, osteopathy evolved progressively towards conventional (allopathic) medicine. Today, the training, practice, credentialing, licensure, and reimbursement of osteopathic physicians is virtually indistinguishable from those of allopathic physicians, with 4 years of osteopathic medical school followed by specialty and subspecialty training and certification by organizations such as the American Board of Internal Medicine. Some osteopathic physicians continue to practice spinal manipulation, primarily as a tool to address specific musculoskeletal complaints.

Just ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?" Then your question will be answered.

Exactly!

I wouldn't even bother applying. You clearly need to be in Harvard's MD/PhD program. They really love people that "aren't a fan of this country." I think they have a scholarship just for you, go on their website and look up " I am an incredibly big douche " under the sometimes I stick my foot in my mouth page 😉

That scholarship is one of the most competitive around. There are literally thousands of highly qualified applicants. But based on what I've seen, the OP has likely got an above average application! 😀

I don't know. I thought that Defense Against the Dark Arts during 2nd year was pretty tough. 😉

Seriously though, if you aren't planning on staying in the country, just do MD as it's more recognized internationally as a physician. DO is in some areas, not sure where though aside from the US. It'll also help keep the DO profession clear of someone who will make us look bad. So yeah, go MD.

I am a DO. My brother is an MD. It's all the same. I don't know why I am feeding the troll.

The map says I won't be able to practice in Kazakhstan, Yemen, Ethiopia. My life is ruined. LOL.

Yea, I was so pissed when I learned that I wouldn't have any practicing rights in Moldova. Makes me rethink this whole DO thing...

Means you can't get a ".md" domain name - I believe that's there main claim to fame.
