Missed the grade i wanted by SOO little

Yes, this is a thread dedicated to people who just missed getting the grade that they wanted. Yes, it will prolly get moved, but for now, i just want to vent my frustration of missing my A minus in biochem by .003 points (needed a 167/200 on the final and only scored a 164)

For all those who want to b*tch and moan, feel free, it's whining season.
 
oh awesome i need this.

ok i missed getting an A in my pharmacology class by .5 points in the final exam. i even met w/ the prof to see if i could squeeze it out, but alas, no. oh well
 
At first when i read this post, i was like, omg a b+ is good, but then i checked my ochem grade, and i got a friggin b+, so i definately understand how your feeling now 🙁
 
How about this...I'm not even getting a grade in physics.

So I got my score back on the final, and though I missed getting the B (by three points...) I was quite proud of myself for surviving that evil class. It's P/F, and I ain't proud. Then it shows up on my transcript as an I. Turns out they don't seem to have my data sheet for the third lab, even though I went.

We have three labs over the semester, worth no points, but you must do two of them to pass. They involve showing up for an hour, taking some measurements, writing your name on the data sheet, and leaving.

So there's a good chance I'm going to fail, and even if I don't, the I is going to be stuck on my transcript. Bastards. I DO NOT want to take that class ever again...I'm bad at it, I hate it, gimme my fricking C+/P.
 
I remember missing an A by a few points... Junior year, I was taking pathogenic micro. I needed a total of 900/1000 to get an A, and I ended up with 896/1000. I missed the A by four points and I had worked my butt off for that class!!

Plus, my prof didn't like the +/- system, so he only gave me a B!!!! I talked too him about getting at least a B+ or an A- but in vain... I hate it because when ppl see a B, they think that I ended up with 80% - not 89.6% !
It's not really the grade itself that bothers me though (although it was the first B that I got in college)... It's more the fact that my grade really didn't reflect my performance in the class.

Anyway... I'm sure it happened to all of us... 🙄
 
yeah, i found out today that i missed an A in mideast geography by 1 point. 1 stinking point, i was so close.

on the plus side, i got a 98 on the final and if i would have done worse i could have had a b+. 😱

If this is just one of the semesters of the year of required physics, taking it pass/fail wont count as completing the premed requirements anyway.
 
Year and half ago, I was taking Genetics and took the lab. I didn't study for the final exam and ended up failing it, but my TA told me that all I needed was a 68/100 in the final lab report to get an A in the class. The biatch gave me 67, took out random points for random stuff, and I ended up with a B in the lab and an A in the class (which is ******ed if you ask me)....

It happens...it sucks..but it happens

it sounds like you guys should be saying PERCENTAGE
vs. POINTS. i missed an A by 1 pt. needed a 330
got a 329. i already asked the prof. to reconsider.

we will see. 🙄
 
I missed an A in a BME lab by quite a few points, because of participation of all things. My reports were great, but it was lab in which I worked in a group of three, and one guy did pretty much all of the in-lab work by choice. The TA ended up liking him, so me and my partner got slammed on participation, resulting in Bs for us. Who's ever heard of participation grades actually meaning anything anyway? I thought they were supposed to be free when teachers wanted to make other assignments worth less? Outrageous.

soooooooooooooooooooo much better, and it always pisses me off when I get a B+ instead of an A- but half the time i probably didn't even deserve that, so what can I say? 😕

it's for when you just missed a certain grade, as all of you are lamenting about...the prof can then find a way to give you that extra .03 and not feel he is being unfair about it. I love participation counting (when I've participated); i can't tell you how many times it has helped me~ 😀
 
I hate this! WTF is a 3.876?! I am at a small liberal arts school....goodbye ivy league....

i think you should consider the DO................... :laugh:

incase you didnt get it, i am JK with ya... seriosuly some poeple dont get the sarcasm beacause they are tooo serious on these forums...

Your gpa is pretty damn high.....with the good mcat and LOR's and a good interview you should have a decent shoot at the IVYS (assuming you have all the shadowing, EC's and all that other stuff)

I didn't have any grades in college. But while I was working on my masters, I was taking three classes, which is a ton for a grad student who is doing full-time research. I had an 85% in my physical organic class, which was the minimum that the prof had said was necessary in order to be exempt from taking the final. Since I had two other finals (in p. chem and drug design, both of which were hard as h***), I told him I was exempting his. He tried to backpeddle and claim that a 90% average was necessary to exempt, but I whipped out my syllabus that he'd handed us at the beginning of the semester (hang on to those things; you never know when they'll be useful!) and showed him where he'd written 85%. So he had to exempt me, but he tried to get me to take it by telling me that he'd only give me an A if I took the final (and got an A on it, of course). I wasn't having any of it, so he gave me the B in order to "punish" me for refusing to take the final. I got an A in p. chem though, so that more than made up for it. 😀

Ahhhh... I love it here! It's all super-over-achievers such as myself! Only here would people be grieving over their B's instead of A's, when so many non-pre-professionals are scraping by with D-'s and proud of them!

What's the best way to ask a prof to reconsider? I took a class spring 04 and missed a B by 1 point (not percent). Yeah, I wasn't shooting for anything higher than a B, I should admitt! It's now end of fall and thinking 'bout asking him again for the nth time. I had talked him before the final and he said if I showed 'improvement' he would consider... I showed 'improvement' and he still went ahead and entered that C. We have no +/-
I'd never retake that class for anything 😡
 
got a f***ing 92% (B+) in my senior design class... mostly due to my bad participation grade which was mostly due to my being gone interviewing. what a bunch of crap!
 
just checked my grades online... apparently a lot more of them are in.

got a B+ in every class except for one, and i'm sure that one will end up being a B+ as well. so much for the dean's list this semester! i had super easy classes, too! man, i'm a dumba$$.

They really don't care. They'll maybe listen, then be like, well it's not fair...
I had a circuits class where I got an 89.495xxxxxxx, so I asked my teacher why couldn't he round it to the A, fair assumption on my part, I went to office hours, went to TA sessions, he knew who I was, I did my homework, on time & mostly correct, got As on the tests, but he says...No.
This time, I'm mad at my stupid professor, we've taken that final like 3 weeks ago, ppl have already graduated, he needs to put up the grades. He also doesn't reply to emails, and is never in his office (me & a friend have been taking turns stalking him). The least he could do is a stupid paper posting outside his office if he's too lazy to enter it to the computer. He is ruining my holiday
 
yeah but what i didn't mention is that all I did was study this semester. I got 1 date this entire semester and that was after finals.
 
OOOhhh I got one... really wanted to kick butt this semester. Phyics, Biochemisty, AND Physiology, missed the next grade up in ALL 3 classes by 2 points - no not percent - points 😱 . That is less than a question on a test, unbelieveable. Now, I really gotta kick it in gear before applying!!! 😡

Ah, Poor baby. your whole life is ruined.
 
Since this is a bitching fest, I'm going to complain about my Bio II grade which was a 93, but needed to be a 93.3 to be an A. It was the difference of getting one 2 point question on any of the 100 point tests right.

You kick yourself, but life goes on.
 
I didn’t make a single “A” this semester. B’s all across the board. That’s what I get for half-assing my finals. But since my med school application is already in, it doesn’t really matter. 👍
 
What kind of sick administration sets my last final on the 23rd of December!!! With travel I didnt get home till the night of the 24th! AND I still have a paper to turn in before monday that involves discussing the biological relevence of each figure produced by the 41 pages of code I have built in the last three days.

I hate coding. I hate computers. I want to go live in a cave without technology alone in the wilderness. (ignore that I am posting my compliants on an online forum and run with me here).

it's looking like i'm in the same situation. so far i have all B+'s. but yeah, that's what i get for skipping 3 straight weeks of class minus one day. and yeah, application is already in and interviews are already mostly over, so who cares. we'll live!

that's because u of m is nuts. i am so lucky that my last final was the 20th. i feel bad for you guys who had them on the last day. but just remember we start later and get out earlier than anyone else. 🙂

😡 I have a high cumulative, but I got a 3.46 this semester, and it pisses me off. I should've gotten an A- or something in chemistry (probably tanked the final because he had 40 points of problems I didn't expect), and I'd have gotten an A- or better in biology if I'd remembered to take all the extra credit quizzes (or had more than a day to study for the final after classes ended).

I guess you're right. (and by then it will be warmer too... all the better to be free of school).

Sorry about your senior design project by the way, that sucks. but hey, you're almost done. One more semester and senior design will be a distant distant memory.

it does suck, but i honestly didn't do all that much work, so i kind of deserved the shi**y attendance/participation grade. but yes, one more semester and this will all be a distant memory. 🙂 not that i'm complaining, i love school, just oh so sick of engineering!
