Sounds like you had done very well 👍 That's a lot of extra time left comparing to the written exam.
Can u going back and forward between sections? What section is the most challenging? pictures, diagrams?
Anat. Sciences
Biochem/Phys
Micro/path
Dental

You might want to post whatever you can remember here or in this post for whoever taking the CBT in the near future

Congrats khuram 👍 :luck:
Now it's part time! :hardy:

Pls do post all the questions that u remember(especially the tough ones), when u get back 😀

Is it possible to do the dental anat first & micropath later in the afternoon session? 😕

I have one Q about sequence of exam....can u wite DADH first and then micropatho . Can we go back to previous Qs... if we want to check it again.
i am writing it next week.
thanx in advance

hi khurram,

congrats on being done!!

i have a question about the timing...does the one hour lunch break start the minute you finish your morning session and end exactly one hour later?? ie. i was wondering if i finished the morning session with an extra hour to spare can let my test run out of time on its own, take a two hour lunch break and return to the center to finish my test at the originally scheduled time? b/c i know my friends who took the paper based test told me that they were able to get double the break time inbtwn morning and afternoon sessions if they finished early... 😕

aaahhh...i'm so scared...i feel like everyone's done and i'm the only one left studying... :scared: so sad... 🙁

No extra break in the morning. I guess you could probably take a 45 minute break before the end and then after you finish take your lunch, but those prometric people have a tendency to suck. I did take 4, 5 minute breaks throughout which was nice.
CBT wasn't as bad as people said the written was. Biochem was difficult. No real repeats of what the written folks were talking about. Obviously the two tests are different. I also talked with a friend in Seatle who seemed to have a different CBT than my CBT. Look over Biochem Phys details. I felt like they were real nit-picky. Also a couple questions on articulators in DA section. One stupid question on amount of swallowing in one day. KNow tooth formation histology and embryology. Good luck. Its real nice when you're finished

Hey Congrats! 👍
Do post us if u recall any questions later... :luck:

You can mark all the answers and continue through or maybe just scroll through all 100 qs, then do the second section first if you want to. No penalties.

Bacteria that causes green pus?

Oncofetal antigens?

Calculation of H+ concentration from given pH

mediodistally? (not mesio, medio)

You cannot go over from one section to the next one and then come back......at least I could not......so I had to stick to Anat in the first 1hr45 mins.....then Biochem....then the break.........then Patho-Micro.....and then DA.....

Really..!! 😱 So STILL there's no flexibility of moving b/w 2 sections..!!? 🙁 So u should finish 1 section in that alloted 1hr45 mins n that's it!!??I thought total 31/2 hrs are given for both sections n we can do whichever section first n go back n forth like in paper based!!But if sandman could go back n forth n if gpg couldn't.....does it mean it's different in diff prometric centres :scared: How was that for u Khurram...??Somebody plz do enlighten me on this!! 😕

Yes I am confused too......I clearly remember being told by the comp that I have 1hr 45min for 100 questions...and once I click on END I cannot come back to that section......so Sandman and Khurram please tell me how it was for you.

Personally speaking,I was happier with sticking to one section at a time.Easier for me to concentrate. Also lesser scope for confusion in marking the right answer I had thought prior to the test, but thats not so.You don't get confused.

I was thoroughly bored in DAO,when I was done in 30 mins.I actually killed time for another 30 mins by just sitting there, taking a break for a coke and doritos and using the restroom. All this just to while away time.

and then re-did the paper in the last 45 mins,as if I was doing it for the first time.

A small bit of advice, don't leave the exam early, even if you are fully confident about your answers and totally at a loss for the ones you have not been able to answer.

Wish you all the best!

hi everyone am taking my cbt next week can anyone twll me that can we reffer our notes for afternoon session at lunch break,,,, am very tensed because as such nothing is mentioned in rules,,,please help me,,,thanks

😀 Hey everyone i'm back finally to a computer i can use for free🙂

Ok it' looks like everyone has pretty much the same question and it's about time...let me try to break it down for u all

1. U have to do the sections in order, 1. anatomy, 2. biochem/physio 3. micro, path,4. DA...no if's and's or but's about it...that's the order and u CANNOT choose to do anthoer section first or second u must go in that order.

2. If u have time left over when u are done with a section u can review any marked question, any unanswered questions, or all of any question in THAT section that u wish to go over. When u finsihs a section there will be a screen that shows the numbers 1-100 representing the question numbers and next to those numbers the questions that u have marked will say "marked" and theones u have unanswered will say "unanswered" u can choose to go over those ones...or any other ones that u wish EVEN IF THEY are not marked or unanswered and U CAN change ure answer then if you wish.

3. About the lunch break, it comes after u finish the biochem section. Let me expalin how the time runs out.. at the top corner of the screen each section will have a clock that counts down from 1:45 and hits 0 when ure time is over. U can choose to use the entire 1:45 minutes or if u wish and u are satisfied with cehcking over u can tell the computer u are donw tihe section and u can move onto the next section.. U NEED NOT wait for the time to finish before moving on. So theoretically u could finish the biochem section say with 30 minutes still remainng and go on ure lunch break and let that 30 minutes wind down without telling the computer u are done with teh section...then by default when the time runs out it will move u into the lunch break and a 1:00 hour counter will start so you could in fact make ure lunch break longer than 1 hour if u have time left.

4. I finisished the test in about 4:45 minutes. I took 1 hour-1 hour 15 minutes to finish each section and then i eneded the section adn moved onto the next. I did not wait for the time to finish on its' own. I only took a 30 minute lunch break as I was HIGH A KITE on caffene!!! and wanted to get back to my test before my caffene high crashed! By the way it's a great way to boost ure mind before u exams start....

Eat a half a bar of DARK CHOCOLATE fifteen mintues before ure exam starts.. The dark chocoalate really stimulates teh brain and helps u concentrate more.. It' sa trick that people use when they are nervous and have to go in for job interviews and such and it really does work. And go easy on teh carbs at lunch time..eating a heavy lunch laden with simple carbs will make u brain sluggish and less effeicent...i took a sandwich that I got from teh deli which was roasted turkey on whole grain bread adn had a glass of orange juice and i sufficed nicely...Sorry i'm giving out all the health tips but i'm a bit of a fitness freak!!!

So I hope that answers all ure timing and lunch questions people..i know i wrote a lot and i hope it's understandable..if u still dont understand and ure in teh US pm me and i'll give u my cell number and u can call me and i'll explain anything that i can do to help.

Another thing...u are supposed to reach ure exam half an hour before they give u some papers to fill otu and they gave me a little locker to keep my books and food and stuff in. U can use the bathroom at any time u wish and as many tiems as u wish just keep in mind ure time will conitinue to click away...I honestly dont think that any of u should be pressed for time If u ahve studied well the u will either know the question or u wont. They were very few questions that actually requried a lot of applying ure knowledge they were pretty straight foward except for about 10 questions in each section.

SOME QUESTIONS I REMEMBER....

keep in mind these are pretty much waht the question asked but not exactly as how it was written..

1. The mandiublar condyle is covered with ....

a. Elastic tissue
b. Hyanline
c. Periostium
d. Collagenous tissue

Now as all of you who have done the decks know that the articulating surfaces of the TMJ are always coverd in a fibrocartlidge...sot his quetion really bummed me out as they asked it in such a tricky way that it had not been asked before.....

2. What syndrome is characterized by, increased succeptibility to infection, retinal something ( i dont remember what it said).

A. Gardner sydrome
B. Hypothyrodism
C. Hypopitutaryism
D. Hyperthyrodism....

I may just be begin stupid but i dont rmeember reading anywhere that any of those cause increased succeptibility to infection.. DO THEY? possibly hypothyroidism?

3. What characterizes Albers-Jeheurs syndrome?

I dont remember the choices but i NEVER heard of this syndrome!!!! it's just one of those stupid questions they put in there...

Let me put it this way...there WILL Be about 15 or so questions in each section that you will probably have NO IDEA what to answer that's just how it goes..and i't s good possiblity that it wont be those questions that i Just put up there...they put those questions in to seperate the 90's from the 99's i suppose...

Ok guys post if u have any other ideas , thoughts, or opinions...those of u who are still reading this post that is!!!!!!
Take care
Khurram

I"m sorry guys i dont rmeebe many other ones right now i wil post some more later...This has become a LONG post!!! 🙂

I had VERY few pictures or diagrams in my test... I would say maybe 6 at the most with ALL The sections combined. adn three of those were from DA. Teh diagream they gave me in the Anatomy section was quite difficult to read. I thought that it was not presented properly.. It was a breakdown of the facial muslces adn the mylohyoid had been pulled downward with a forcep...it was a drawing showing the profile view of the head and an arrow pointed to the mylhyoid...i just thought it was difficult to see what it was pointing to

By the way I found Anatomy to be the most difficult..followed by biochem/physio, patho, and then DA...

Bear in mind though that anantomy is my weakest subject...I did think however, that they were being very nit picky about certain things...i can't remember exactly what but there are some questions in every section that u'll just sit back after reading it and be like "Oh GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!..WHAT KINDA STUPID A$$ QUESTION IS THAT!!!!"

iT'S just part of the game..so dont get too tensed out! They want u to crack under the pressure...but u show them who's boss !!!!!! I wont have it any other way my fellow SDN'ers!!! SHOW NO FEAR TO THE NDB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍

trust me it's the best feeling when ure finally done with ure exam...But it will be even better if i get my results and i get a 90 i THINK i'm bordering somewhere around a 88-90 but i could be higher or lower..tha'ts just what i calculated according to the released score chart conversion for the 98 exam i hope the curve remains pretty much constant!!!!

Ok, how about anatomy, since it's your weakest subject, how did u prepare for it? Was it difficult? any repeat questions? any advices on how to study, do well in this section?

You've been a very good sport and helpful! I'm sure many people find this thread helpful! Thanks!

Well for anatomy i tackled it the same way as i did the others...decks and old exams...I used a little book that is popular back in pakistan and india called B.D. Chaurisa's Head and neck anatomy i doubt it is available anywhere outside those two coutries but i only used it very briefely the extra effor i put was that after i reviewd the entire decks three times i spent an extra two weeks on anatomy memorizing the blood supply, veins, bone, and nerve supply cards from teh decks.. it really helped out ..i would say there were about 10-15 repeats...but some questions were almost like repeats but they changed aroudn teh way it was asked.

Thanks for the reply! Good luck with everything 👍

Thanks for the detalied explanation
hope u get wot u aimed for 🙂

khurram, during the exam, are you allowed a white sheet of paper and pencil? to jot down diagrams and work out problems?

thanks. july 28th, here i come! :meanie:

At the centre, they give you a a blank paper having 4 sides and 2 pencils.Once the paper is filled up,you have to hand it over and then they will give you a fresh one.but other than DAO,you don't really need the paper.

Relax.

All the best!

hi khurram...gr8 u r done with it...seems u did preety well if u expecting a 90...wish u all the luck.. i am palning to take the exam in aug end,...am dead scared...atthis point i feel dead confused & all the subjects seem to mingle up..hey jus wanted to ask u...if i get an average of 70/ 100 in the old relaeasd tests..how good do u think my prep is...i cant judje my self..weh i think of al four subjects together i feel i know nothing..i have decided to take the exam ..but now i am scraed whether i should post pone a lil...kindly help...will tht feelin prevail always wehn thedate comes closer or is it tht i a,m really not redy???

hey what's up...
look ure gonna be confused until the day of ure exam that's just how it goes!!! but dont keep delaying ure exam...u gotta set a date and stick to it so u have a deadline to work foward too otherwise u just keep lingering along...about ure scoring on teh old tests...ifu are scoring about 70 and u have not fully memorized all teh qeustions adnu are answerming most of them out ure knowledge and not just memorizing the same questions over and over then i would say u are great...72-73 correct equals to about a 90 and thats what u should aim for...howevere remember when u take the real exam there are not gonna be a lot of qeustion that u ahve seenn before probably about 20 or so will be repeats..so make sure ure nto just memorizig questions and really do understand why they are right..the rest of the questions will proably be simialar in some way or the other but maynot be exactly those same questions so it pays to understand why teh answer to something is correct adn more imporatly why the others are NOT correct adn what those other choices are relating to......
take care

Written in 3-4 weeks?..I don't think so, unless ada has speeded 😛
I got mine last year exactly after 7-8 weeks(middle of 8th week)

But this cbt is quiet interesting though...They mention 3-4 weeks..but looks like candidates are receiving in 12-14 days..Hope they maintain this 😀

Hi everybody: 😕 This thread is very good.I request for people who have finished the exams to paste even the questions which they think are simple. There are many tuff questions pasted .Please paste the simple ones too.Easy questions can put some confidence to go to the exam hall. :

Hey Khurram,
Don't worry. I guess you will be receiving it in couple of days since it has been only 11 working days past since you took the exam. :luck:

A faculty member at my school told me the scores will be available August 15, which is 5 weeks after the exam. Pretty good if that is the case!
