I posted my interview experience for USN in the interview feedback section - nothing really different from other posts though. I really like the school and everyone's very helpful. I'd really want to go here! There is NO essay on the interview day so it was a short day.

Oh I also learned that they are interviewing approx. 380 applicants for 125 spots, and a majority of acceptances will not be given until early april (about 10 ppl may hear earlier than that).

Good luck to everyone interviewing! :D

I just finished my interview there in vegas

here are my opinions:

PROS
The school is very good academically and has a very strong future
They have a very high passing rate of the Naplex (~95%)

CONS
Its in Vegas, I really hated the town. This is not based on the ethical questions of the casinos, the city doesnt seem to offer a college atmosphere that i find important.

I would like to here more opinions on the day to day life in vegas so i can change my mind

I live in Vegas, but I also hate the town. But look at it this way: the school is only 3 yrs so you would only have to put up with Vegas for 3 yrs.
If there is anything specific (about vegas/henderson) I can answer, let me know.

wow corradoracer! i think your pros and cons are exactly the same as mine (i didn't know the NAPLEX stat though)

if you feel comfortable, do you mind describing yourself (i.e. what color did you have on, etc.) so I can see if i remember/talked with you at the interview this past saturday? i had a green/grey suit on and was probably very nervous looking. :)

TM and corrado...i didn't like the area i stayed in at all! (paradise rd. by the airport) it was pretty run-down. funny story from me - a sheltered person--i was walking along the street and looked over at a newspaper stand and well...needless to say...they weren't newspapers! (ha ha) the part of the town by the school seemed better though...but i came away with a somewhat negative impression of vegas as a whole.

how was your interview corrado? mine was kinda tough compared to how easy everyone else made theirs sound...

Ouch! You stayed in the UNLV/McCarran area...not the best part of town by a long shot! Head west of the strip to Summerlin, south on Eastern Ave to Anthem, and south on Green Valley Pkwy to Green Valley Ranch, and you'll see LV's more affluent areas. I (used to) work at Sunrise Hospital, up on Maryland Pkwy across from UNLV. If you want to get shot, just stand around on a street corner in that neighborhood at night. One of my classmates was held up at gunpoint at a Terrible Herbst carwash in that area early one morning (the gun was pointed AT his face, not inside a jacket pocket, or otherwise obscured). Took his car and his laptop in the trunk. His car was found stripped several days later. Just like any town in the USA, this place has its good and its bad neighborhoods. When you get here, you'll know what places you should avoid. ;) The good news is that Henderson (where the school is) is a rather tame community, considering it is right next door to LV. I feel safe here.

I am currently attending USN and I'd like to share with you guys my own experiences:

I am originating from OC, CA. I think OC, LA and Las Vegas are pretty much the same pace of living. I did not have any "shock" at all. My classmates are very friendly because we're from different states, a lot of them even from East Coast. We all work as a big team and help each other improve better, based on knowledge, not on "competition" (Of course you have to obtain 90% or above score in every exam in order to pass it, so you compete with yourself, not curving or anything like other schools).

Our school is still underdeveloping future projects, such as building MBA/Nursing/PA programs. So far, we're very sucessful with our pharmacy program.

The only thing that i don't like is weather. Just hate it when it comes to summer...so HOT!!!....but oh well, AC can take care of that...

Alrite...Just some thoughts...good luck you all!

If you go farther from the strip it is better. Right now I live in Henderson, about 5 min from the pharm school, and I would definitely recomend it instead of vegas.

and we do have those "newspaper stands" everywhere, but after awhile you don't even notice them

i would say the interview went fine with me, well sort off...one of the professors on the board didnt seem interested in me. if i was to give myself a grade, i would assign a B-, but definitely i wish i would have preped a little more for this.

BTW i tried to ask around and find people that know about this forum, however, i had no luck
