Hi everyone. I am planning my schedule out right now of the classes I have to take in order to enter Dental School in '08. Im a senior and have just switched my major to pre-med. Now here is my question.

I plan to finsh with all of my sciences except for physics at tthe end of spring semester '06. I plan to apply to D-School right away and then take the DAT that August or Sept. (Is this an acceptable amount to study, and time to apply?). Now as I take the dat in september '06 I also will be tkaing PHYS I that fall, and as I am hearing from D-School take Phys II Spring of '07.

Now can I get accepted into Dental School assuming I do decently on the DAT and have a decent GPA? I am asking this because the schools will see that I have yet to complete all the necessary pre-reqs, since I will have a year of physics still left to go, but am already applying for admission. I knwo this is a long thread but it is very important to me. Thanks.

you can apply without physics (and get interviews, depending on what the rest of your profile is like)... but can't get in without physics. An acceptance without physics will be a conditional acceptance (requiring physics before showing up for 1st day of classes at d-school).

They don't care if you have Physics completed by the time you apply. As long as you finish it before D-school starts, it would probably be wise to take it after you apply.

let's keep it simple people. the answer is ...... NO .

actually I guess the answer is yes. I plan to finsh it before I actually go to D-School. But I was worried wether or not I can get accepted before actually completing it...

So you guys are certain that it will not hinder D-School's decision whether or not to accept me becuase they do not have the rest of my science GPA since the pre-reqs arent complete???

Because then basically I can take the DAT get a good grade and take the science classes later? Just curious if this is possible. But back to my case. You guys think I should be okay doing that?

Look, its as simple as this. Schools do not care if you have all of the prerequisites done before you apply, atleast half or two thirds done. So take all of the classes that are hard for you after you apply as to help your GPA. So if physics is hard take it after you apply, like me, I am currently in the second semester right now, took the first half last fall, and I got into three schools, they really don't give a crap. But if physics is easy at your school it is a good way to boost that science GPA!!

Ok ok so i'm third year applying this year and only took 1 semester of physics, can i take it like in my fall, or spring semester after I've applied and still get accepted.

Will it decrease my chances of acceptance? NOt having them seen that i've not finished physics?

No take it like the rest of us !!!

dont be a slacker !!!

the daddy has spoken !

Man physics is the only class that is NOT a JOKE subject. It cracked My ARSEee last time i took it barely pulled a B on that sucker. AFter withdrawing from the class once. If can save it till after i apply increasing my gpa to the max won't that improve my chances being honest here.

thanks everyone this is really helpful to me. I love this board I learned so much new info and every1 here is so friendly. I hope that is how D-School will be.

actually, you can. i've been accepted at two schools and haven't taken physics II.

Here's the answer: yes, you can APPLY (and therefore get accepted) without taking all of the pre-reqs, physics being one of those.

Further, you can also matriculate (at some schools) without physics. You'll have to call them and tell them why you don't want to take it, but it worked at 3 schools for me.
