PS was easy
VR was easy (for me)
BS was VERY HARD.

BS was full of experimental interpretation questions in my opinion that made it hard to feel good about but I reasoned my way through it.

Discuss.

I thought PS was hard, VR was fair and BS was fair

I had a hooooorrrible test environment. The proctor messed up on timing and it was 90ish degrees in the test room. GRRRRR!

Anyways,

PS: Not to bad, some scattered questions that I had no clue. I hate stars.
VR: Not to bad, I had to pretty much guess on the last passage, but I dont really care because I didnt understand the passage when skimming it 🙂
BS:I have a masters in physiology so this wasnt so bad for. There was ALOT of experiment passages which can work in anyones favor if they are good at extrapolating information.

NO ORGO!!! LOL, damn it, I really like orgo sometimes, oh well 😉

The countdown begins....

I agree with you. PS was difficult for me... BS was fair, although I had to guess on an Orgo passage because I was about out of time.

Wait, are you sure u had BG? cuz mine had 2 orgo passages and 3-4 standalones

No orgo meaning only 2 passages and a few stand alones. I had some trouble with -/+ passage....

I'll say, I was so stumped on those (-/+) passages

I seriously never ever knew stereochem could get so wild. Im sure the guy who inserted that passages had an orgasm thinking about how we would all F up on that.

I thought PS wasn't bad (although there were a few screwy questions that I just guessed on). VR I kind of had a tough time with... don't know what was up with that. I really didn't think the BS was that bad... but I seem to be the only one, which makes me think i f-ed up. Ah well, can't do anything about it now.

PS wasn't too bad
VR not too shabby
BS can go F-it self

For verbal, I don't even really read the passages, I find that it only screws you up. They LOVE to include a lot of different descriptive words in a passage (critical, skeptical, lovely, etc., you get the point) and then in the question's answer choices, they throw all these words at you. So your memory's natural tendency is to remember these words, so you can get confused easily.

I just go straight to the question and then find the answer, it's much easier. Then you can just skim the passages to get those "big picture" questions right. It also eliminates the feeling of "what the hell was that passage talking about" because you don't even bother with it.

-------
BS was one experimental after another. Did anyone catch that they talked about EDIT in one passage, and then they asked you what an EDIT was in a discrete?

That one passage that "simulated physiological conditions"....ha ha ha

sooo glad other ppl thought the BS was slightly insane. ESP those +/- ones. ugh. i was surprised with the PS, but feel i did good, consdering chem and phys aren't my strong points. VR was okay, but i was running out of time, and that doesn't usually happen to me...

oh well, let the score release countdown begin... 😛

I thought PS was on par, BS was par except for the organic passage (+/-) but VR was one of the toughest I've seen. I might have just been me, anyone else think VR was tough?

On BS there were only a few recall and most were interpretation of experiments, genetics, and cell molec. This worked out well for me since I didn't study BS at all and still felt good about it after finishing.

Usually in verbal there are a bunch that can be narrowed down to 1 choice easily. On this one there weren't many of those and most I had to make educated guesses between two choices the whole way. My confidence was shot about two or three passages in. Verbal was my best section last time too, got an 11.

Writing sample was blah.

It seemed to me that the beginning of each section seemed to go pretty smoothly, and it got increasingly harder as the section dragged on.

Usually I ace the PS, but I got stalled on some questions near the middle and ended up having to hustle more than I usually do towards the end.

just came back from taking form BG

i feel like ****.
I've never ran out of time on either PS or BS (i usually scored 13-15 on both sections)
Today I ran out of time on both..

PS - was ok until that planet accedition **** (i dunno if this is the correct word) had no idea what the heck that thing was talking about and started to rush other passages

VR - reasonable. no complaints

Bs - ok until that.. -/+ ochem ****.. it was testing concepts on racemic/ streocenter thingys... too many bio and too few o chem. thus i had to rush through last stand alone and the passage about FGF and liver/pancreas w/o giving deep thought..

oh well.. at least it's over. Last year when i took it i thought i bombed the PS section but it turned out to be the ok section..

good luck to everyone.. i'm now gonna work on PS 🙂

That's almost my sentiments exactly

PS I usually dominate, but those star questions stalled me pretty badly

Damn this is really bad... the stars passage is a complete blur to me. 😕

if it helps you feel better, after i finished with my verbal section 3 years ago i couldnt remember anything but the last 2 passages. i mean, within a minute of them saying to put the pencils down. 😱

i rawked that test though, especially verbal, so that may just mean you were in the zone. good luck doc! :luck:

stars was in the PS section, it shouldve belonged in the VR section 😡

what did you guys think of the passage in the PS section where
you didnt really have to read the passage (about bone fractures), and all the quetions
were sorta like the discretes.. there was one q on impulse, and then another
question on something else (cant remember) but had no relation the the passage...

I thought the test was hard. PS was difficult, VB was not easy, and Bio was medium. The orgo passage on stereochemistry was absurd, and I think most people will miss 3 or 4 of its questions.
I went into the test feeling fine, having scored 34 and 32 on my last two aamc's. I came out hoping for a 30.

Good luck, everyone.

I seriously used to love stereochem and stars before the todays test, btw I hate Historical art or whatever the hell that passage was on, I was to tired for the last passage hehe.

If you did that on the AAMCs keep your head up, hopefully its up to a 36 now🙂 All we can do now is wait and #%$# about it 😉

It's better that way... instead of hearing everyone else say they chose a different answer, you have no idea! I don't remember a lot of the VR or BS, and only some of the PS, and that's just fine with me. Everyone else I know who took it was comparing answers afterwards and getting all worked up, but not me! Oblivion is sweet (till I get my score, that is...).

My roomate thought BS was really really hard and that PS was easy. Its so hard to gauge these things as I came out of last year's test thinking that VR was the easiest and it ended being my lowest scoring section.

Good luck with the wait, fellas

You have two things that I want:

1. M3
2. NYU

Can I borrow your life for a day, maybe 2 😎

Dood, that blew. BG sucked. 😡

I thought PS was super difficult. The concepts weren't that bad but there were SO MANY CALCULATIONS. I didn't have nearly enough time to do all the calculations and had to guess on a lot. People next to me who took AG said they only had 4 calculation questions...we had like 20.

VR fine
BS fine except for that rediculous (+/-) O-chem one. What the hell does that even mean?

Bah...at least it's done. 😱

I agree..A LOT OF calculation...and there is no way around it..... OH WELL. I guess the AAMC will make another 200 when august rolls around.

OK, I had BJ, but all the B forms should be similar. What was the answer to that one interference/diffraction/dispersion question...does a CDROM diffract?

Maybe it's just me not being good at verbal and it has always been a weakness of mine that I have tried and tried to fine-tune but it seems to never get any better. I've been stuck at 8s and 9s on my verbal for all of my AAMC ones. However, BG verbal was killer for me and I ended up bubbling in randomly and rushing the last couple passages because the whole agriculture one left me confused even though I read it two times.

Other than that, Bio was okay and Physical was okay. I've always been good at those portions. I'm probably expecting 11s on those sections. I'll be lucky to get 12's on those suckers.

Anyone else feels dafkejwaefge over verbal 😡

Anyone else feels dafkejwaefge over verbal

Verbal was a little annoying as usual, hopefully you stay in the 8-9 section. I really hope that Art passage was a test passage, I messed up on that one because of time grrr.

I agree..A LOT OF calculation...and there is no way around it..... OH WELL. I guess the AAMC will make another 200 when august rolls around.

I completely agree, there was a lot of conversion and way to many calculations. The whole time I was thinking, hey weren't we supposed to learn concepts? LoL. Anyways, my watch said 45 minutes had passed, then the proctor said 45 min LEFT. I was like holy **** so I flew through the last half of PS and ended up finishing in One hour and twenty minutes, then she ended up giving us back our ten minutes, so I spent 20 minutes redoing two passages lol. What a day, what a day.

PS: Easy
Verbal : Strange as Usual
Bio: What was up with there being practically no biology, and just alot of experiments? (hope theres a good curve to help us out...🙂)

I finished the PS and was thinking to myself, maybe this MCAT will not be that bad. Vrbal however changed my ruling on that, those 2 10 question passages really through me off timing wise. BS was just that, BS, it was wierd, almost like they forgot bio needed to be tested and decided to just ask about experiments.

Really? I thought that BS was much easier than I was expecting. I was amazed at how little orgo we had on that test.

Yeah, I wasn't the biggest fan of the PS. I was amazed at all the randomness of it since there wasn't any Newton mechanics at all. The only good thing about it was that I didn't feel like I really needed to remember any equations since the majority of them were more complex and so we got them in the passage.

ditto on what you guys have said. BS was BS!! usually my section, and felt like it went the worst. PS was random, but i felt okay about it. the 10 q's in verbal screwed with my time as well. and i never run out of time with verbal. the last passage was definitly a killer. i kept re-reading the same sentences, and comprehending NOTHING! let's pray for -/+ and last verbal to be experimental!

I had BR. PS kicked my ass. I made the mistake of not putting more equations into my short term memory the night before.

VR... no trouble there.

BS. started out simple. Then about halfway through the orgo parts started... those had to have been the two hardest orgo sections I'd seen on any test I've taken. Stereochem absolutely destroys what would be an easy reaction to predict. Also, some of the digestion problems... wish I'd studied digestion in physiol...

I have the same thoughts, my three worst passages were:

PS: Stars or the one with random wavelenghts, was that the same passage?
VR: The last passage about art
BS: +/-

Unfortunately for us, from what I have heard, one of the 10 question passages is usually experimental, if so I hope they wipe agriculture hehe. And as for BS, it would be wild if an Orgo passage was experimental when we only had two passages lol. Anyways, seems like a lot of people are complaining, hopefully a nice curve🙂

Oh man, the agriculture passage was brutal. That's the only thing that I actually remember from the VR section. That would be so nice if that one was gone.

I felt that the Physical Sciences were really easy. Boats bobbing on water, stars crapping out photons, atoms getting excited. Same old same old.

Verbal Reasoning was so boring it hurt. Not one interesting passage and all questions were inference. "The author would most likely agree..."
Oddest question was definitely the memorial symbolism: ...horse with a saddle and no rider...
WTF?

Biological Sciences was tougher than usual. I enjoyed the experiment interpretation although it's hard to be certain on those questions.
When I saw the orgo passages I just laughed. To answer those stereochem questions without LSD would be quite a feat indeed. And the passage synthesizing the 25 different compounds! HAHA. The test writers must've chuckled at that one.

Least-pleasant section by far was the writing though. Luckily it doesn't matter.

anyone else felt like there were wrong answers in this BG form? There were two plug-in problems that I could not find a right answer to. One was in the PS section. I can't remember the number, but the answer choices were like 385nm, 485 nm, etc...i kept on getting 585nm...

another one was in the BS section. it was an stand-alone question about concentrations of acids or bases. i think it was supposed to be 20 instead of 2 or the other wat around.

it may have been me who made some mistakes, but if anyone else had this problem, i will file a complaint because errors in the test costs me a lot of time trying to do it over and over again. Maybe people who had this form will get some points added or something.

ughh the VR about memorials/monuments, BLAHHH! i kept re-reading the words and getting them confused. of course this could be to my slight dyslexia!! but really, such a boring passage. does anyone remember which they answered??

Ha ha. I actually had only five minutes for that passage (did it last) and I think I used an answer about the architecture of the monument, but I forget the others.

Anyone remember what they put for the first PS section? In particular the one about blasting the li shell?

Actually, I remember there being two that I wasn't able to get no matter how many different ways I tried calculating it. The one that I remember was the one with calculating the resistance and the answers were something like 17 nano-ohms and 1.7 nano-ohms. My answer was always off a power of 10 (can't remember if it was too high or too low though). There was another one that I couldn't calculate either, but I'm not sure which one.

I didn't say anything about it, though, since I know that I've had that problem with the practice tests where I feel that none of the answers are correct and then when I see the correct answer, I realize the small mistake that I made.

that resistance was in a material in the shape of a cube, so you use R = p *L/A and i got 1.7 microohms...im not sure tho

Monarch Kong said:

Ahh.. that makes sense. I was just going by the units that they had there and tried to calculate it off of that. I do think that I remember that the units were Ohm-meters and I kept thinking that it was Ohm/meter. Stupid things once again.

Yea I wanted to punch something when I walked out of the PS. In all my practice tests I was finishing early and scoring 12-13, but for some reason several passages just tripped me up and I had to rush like a madman just to finish. I walked out feeling like I would be lucky to get a 10. The rest of the test I didn't think was too bad except for stereochemistry in the BS. It was hard to shake feeling like crap after the first section though. Now it's just a waiting game to see if I have a date with this beast in August.

i wouldn't worry too much.
somehow on MCAT ur scores come out consistently even though u feel like u screwed up.
