I thought it would be nice to have a thread to just hang out while we wait for the above 😀 Anyone see Bueller?
rajad10 said:haha great idea van
rajad10 said:i have one secondary to wait for...so its even a more stressful process
and one interview during september to wait for and acceptance or rejection by october 1st...fast stress - that's how i like it
DrVanNostran said:Oh wow, you are applying EDP to USF....I hope you get in man, I love TAMPA! Once you get in, don't leave us hangin in the pre-allo thread 😀
rajad10 said:IF i get in, i won't leave here...ever. usf had everything i wanted in med school - great weather - large city - emphasis on patient contact - dedication to service - and a trauma center. it was a spur of the moment thing. i can't wait to see how this goes down
Anastasis said:I'm still trying to decide what schools to add to my list. So stressful.
Baylor and Indiana - oh how I love thee 😍 , let me in and give me full scholarships!!
DrVanNostran said:Not to mention the Moffitt Cancer Center, if you are into oncology you are going in the right direction definitely!

On a side note, my ipod just decided to pick 'I hope you dance' by Lee Ann Womack (yes I do shuffle) and I'm always like, "OH!"
I should come with a label: CAUTION. CONTENTS: ONE JACKIE, HIGHLY VOLATILE. NOW, WITH 15% MORE ANXIETY!

Pemberley said:I think you're being smarter about it than I was -- I didn't even think to check pre-clinical curriculum style (for me, organ-based > traditional > problem-based) just length and grading system.
Is Q going to Baylor, btw, or did she get $$$ from somebody else?
ChymeChancellor said:Hello friends from the MCAT forum! I see we ventured over here to the deep end!
Really? Where are good organ based schools?DrVanNostran said:I think Q us going to UM right? Correct me if I am wrong. I agree with you Pemberley...I think Organ based is the way to go. Students in that type of currciculum LOVE it, not to mention that they are rocking their boards 😛
NOT UTMB. UTMB is hardcore problem-based. Though, if I recall correctly, they have some of, if not the highest average board scores of TX schools. That is from [perhaps faulty] memory, though. That's why I REALLY want to get into Baylor, as well.Anastasis said:Really? Where are good organ based schools?
No, I can count the times I've been south of San Antonio on one hand, so I've never heard of El Patos.Anastasis said:Yeah that's why I like UTMB so much, because it is PBL.
Taco C - oh how I love thee. Have you ever had El Patos? that's a S. TX thing.

wow thanks for the link 😀DrVanNostran said:Anastasis, check out this: http://services.aamc.org/currdir/about.cfm
You search every school and check out there curriulum/
Also from the AAMC:
Approximately 10 percent of the schools have organized their preclinical curriculum into organ system units. In this approach, the basic science disciplines are taught in the context of their relevance to each organ system.
BTW: I think Northwestern is another school.

DrVanNostran said:Tell you advisor to hurry the hell up 😀
stars6868 said:Ok so I dont know you people from your previous MCAT threads cuz Im a reapp, HOWEVER, saying taco C or any of these others you have listed are good food and saying there are good mexican is a crime against all humanity. Growing up in west texas, with over 50% hispanic pop. thought sorta makes me biased I suppose.
taylormade44 said:haha i would feel bad, hes on vaca and he said he'd email me comments
since its in your signature, what requirements are needed to work for TPR or Kaplan? a certain score on the mcat and sat?
Pemberley said:When I lived in San Angelo, there was a little hole-in-the-wall mexican place that did the BEST hot tamales ever... my Dad's office has a guy in a truck who comes by and sells something really similar. My rule of thumb: never buy tamales from somebody who actually has a license to sell them.
DrVanNostran said:Tell you advisor to hurry the hell up 😀
DrVanNostran said:90th percentile on a section and an audition. Thats pretty much it. 😀
taylormade44 said:how much do they pay?
jackieMD2007 said:Or, just send Terry Tate, Office/MCAT/AMCAS Linebacker in there.
"I SAID turn over that PS, DAN! Pain Train's comin' baby, WOO WOO!"

I'm trying not to eat fast food but the drive up window lures me in because I don't want to take my kids out of the car. I can't do Taco Bell anymore because my son can't eat dairy or beans because of his metabollic disorder(try taco bell food with no dairy and no beans and see how you like it...) Anywho, I tend to go with Wendy's. I'm a big spicy chicken fan. 👍
