I just got an email inviting me to an online chat for U'Chicago. Did anyone else? Did they send it out to all applicants? As far as I know, I have not gotten an interview, my status page says Final Decision for Interview Invitation has been Made: No

Just got the same thing---saw "Pritzker" in my inbox and nearly had a heart-attack-o'-joy....and then it's this email about a chat. Boo. 🙁 Although the idea of the online chat itself is interesting...

I got the email as well, and I've yet to submit the beastly secondary. I'm curious if every applicant received one.

I got it. I'm complete with the ol' No,No status.

Pritzker just emailed me saying there had been an inadvertant email snafu, but that all info was secure and not to worry. Should I email them back to let them know thay already REJECTED me? 😡

I got one, my application has already been reviewed and I'm on "hold". So, I'm guessing they extended this invitation to basically everyone who hasn't been axed by the adcom yet.

I got it too. GIVE ME AN INTERVIEW PLEASE!

Damn, I thought I was going to come on here and find out that only people with interviews were getting the e-mail. Oh well. My application status says YES after Final decision regarding interview invite. Anyways, good luck to everyone applying to Pritzker.

I got the chat email and my status for interview changed to "Yes" a week ago and I haven't received any interview invite. I'm just waiting for the reject letter by snail mail so I bet they sent the chat email to everyone.

And we all know that about 90% of the questions asked are going to be "When will I hear about an interview?" or along those lines.

I didnt get the email for the online chat, but I did get the email saying they accidentally sent out my email to others but that there was no secure information leaked.

Im expecting the rejection in the mail any day now since ive been "yes" on the decision has been made for over a week now....

Unfortunate, but your delivery was pretty funny 😛

yeah, i got the email about security of information, but no chat... got the rejection today...
i want to say something to them, but i dont think its worth it

I've got an interview, and didn't get the chat thing. I did get that email about the accidental email release, and it totally freaked me out. I feel so lucky to get an interview there when people way more impressive than me haven't, and I actually had a dream the other night that I got an email saying my interview offer was a mistake, and I could still come if I wanted but I really had no chance of getting in. So when I actually got an email just now from Pritzker about a mistake I nearly panicked before my brain comprehended what it actually said. 😳

Haha yeah, I got it too and wanted to remind them that I was already rejected, lol.

Yeah, I was already rejected too....I sent them an email back.

Howdy folks. I'm actually going to be in on the chat in question, so here's just a bit of clarification:

The applicants who were invited to the chat represent a random selection of applicants who have submitted their AMCAS application to Pritzker—they didn’t pay attention to whether you had already received an interview invitation, haven’t yet submitted your secondary, etc., they really want to talk to a random selection of people in all stages of the process. If you weren’t selected, it isn’t an indicator of anything—your name just didn’t happen to have been picked. It doesn't mean that you've been rejected, that you're going to be rejected, or that Pritzker hates you. Keep in mind that there will be subsequent chats at later dates that will include random selections of applicants as well. Despite the fact that they tried to limit the amount of people that will be participating, invitations went out to about 1800 applicants, or 25-30% of the 6000+ they've received so far.

If you have already received a rejection letter, the admissions people at Pritzker are always willing to talk to rejected applicants to help them understand why they were rejected, so feel free to join in the chat if you want to.

Regarding the email info leak, it really is just a case of human error—the office switched to a new email system and the person who sends the emails about your applications being complete didn’t know how to use the “bcc” feature in the new email system. While they feel badly about the honest mistake, they want to assure you that no other personal information was at jeopardy beyond email addresses.

That's about all I know from talking to the admissions peeps, so if you have questions about it, email me. Again, don't worry about the secret meaning behind whether you were invited to chat -- there isn't one.

Peace. -B

yeah that was a little goof that I saw in the email that told us that we were complete.

If only Pritzker didn't put me on hold for an interview, the ONLY bad news I've gotten so far....

Especially when the e-mail starts "The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine is very excited to invite you to..."

I'm sure it's a very kind invitation, but when I read the rest of the sentence I wanted to thump them.

When I saw this e-mail, I went into a quick celebration mode (think arms raised in a V!)...and then I go to the end of the sentence. BASTARDS! They sent me the fakey, and I totally bought it!

Not sure if I'll be participating or not. We'll see what kind of mood I'm in...if I'm feeling angry about my limbo status, it will be best to keep my thoughts to myself!

FYI a transcript of the chat is up and can be found at http://pritzker.bsd.uchicago.edu/admissions/chats/. Peace.

Could you tell the admissions folks to make the status page a little bit more applicant friendly? Seems like No/No can mean either that the application is still under review, or that it is on hold. Supposedly we get an email indicating that we are on hold, but would be nice to see that on the status page.

They've had plenty of questions coming into the admissions office about this already, so they're well aware that people are having difficulty interpreting it. I doubt anything about it is going to change until at least next year.

I can tell you that those indicators tell you exactly what they say they tell you: whether an interview decision has been made and whether a committee decision has been made. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't think they were ever intended to indicate whether you're held, rejected, accepted, etc. so in that regard, they're really not so cryptic, and any attempt to interpret the statuses as anything other than precisely that - statuses - will only stress you out unnecessarily. Trust me.

There is no stress if there is no ambiguity and uncertainty - wondering whether I missed the critical email about the hold.

That's totally understandable. I should have said before, too, that you're always welcome to email or call the admissions office and see if they can tell you what your decision is more immediately.
