It wasn't even a "lie" technically; I just exaggerated the number of hours I put in volunteering at the ER on my amcas application.

I didn't think in a million yrs that they would verify stuff like this; grades yes, but not EC's. This blows.

I'm not sure what's gonna happen now. That was my only acceptance and now I'm clinging on to 4 waitlists. Hopefully these other schools don't find out or I'm fcuked 🙁

any advice on what I should do? I'm dying here :scared:
 
Go find a bridge to hide under.

All the places I volunteer keep track of these things. Apparently, the more volunteer hours they attract = more funding from somewhere. Win, win!

To the OP, that kinda stinks, but it's good to warn everyone else.

when I volunteered, I didn't remember any kind of time log so I thought I was safe in being a tad dishonest.

sure wish I could've done that over again

I chose the name because my dad was actually the inventor of "anal beads." The money he made put me thru college and hopefully, med school some day if I can somehow make this situation I'm in all good.

So depressed right now 🙁

i volunteered for 3 and a half months but was only there maybe 4-5 hours a week. On amcas, I put down that I had volunteered around 150 hrs

most likely it was the school that accepted me that decided to cross check my application

1. You put down a contact on the AMCAS, but none of the contact info i.e. email, phone, fax or address.
2. Without this, how does the AMCAS check you out?
3. Why would AMCAS do this? wouldn't the schools themselves, if they were so inclined?
4. Since I'm not applying, is the AMCAS even open yet? I thought it opened on 6/5.

if this is in fact true, you get what you deserved. You signed a contract with AMCAs when you submitted that said the contents of your app were true and complete. Since you lied, you commited fraud.
 
He is just doing this to defer people from exagerating hours on their application. This will lessen his competition and allow him to get an edge over the mass of people that do actually exaggerate....:idea:

it was a snail mail letter that stated that my acceptance offer was rescinded due to falsified statements on my application.

along with it was a photocopy of a document verifying this from the ER I volunteered at

That is exactly why I decided to be dishonest. I did however mention the name of the hospital I volunteered at during my interview there but it was in NJ not chicago so I thought it would've gone right over their head

Alright guys, its not even worth asking him these questions he is a troll, a fake person, why in the world would any of you trust what a person named anal beads has to say? Haha, it almost makes me laugh. This person isn't real, he, as someone has said before, is trying to scare people to not lie on their applications. The moral of the day, never trust someone with a name like anal beads on any subject, so please, no more serious questions, only blatantly obviously sarcastic ones that make this thread seem like a joke...
 
Everywhere I volunteer at keeps a log of hours too, I can't imagine a place wouldn't do that. Well here is the thread to dig up for all the future posts that ask if your activities are actually verified or if there is a way of verifying activities...

OP, you should talk to your dad. In my opinion, as the inventor of anal beads he has first hand experience of the pain you are no doubt going through.

It was his wife (my mom) who actually conjured up the idea. My dad took the next step and her idea was materialized and put into practice.

He still hasn't answered that part, by the way. His story borders on believable, and may have even passed as believable, were it not for saying his dad invented anal beads. :laugh:
