So I've been thinking, how many of you are applying this year? How many have taken the mcat but haven't applied? How many are YEARS away from applying?

Everyone wants to know so vote and let's see the numbers!

i cant apply for allopathic this year but i can apply to osteopathic.
so i voted for next year because i think i want to apply to both of them at the same time to see where i can get in with all options open.

ps: the reason i "cant" apply allopathic is because i feel its a bit late in the application cycle to have a 3.61 GPA, 3.83 BCPM taken seriously....and on top of that i dont even know how i performed on the MCAT till sept 12th.
i think its best to use the time to get lots of volunteering and medical experience under my belt.

I'm applying in 2009 and hopefully matriculating in 2010.

As I am a junior, I normally would be applying Summer of 2008 but since I switched my major halfway through I cannot take the MCAT until Spring of 2009 because I won't have organic chem yet (and the micro classes and biochem ill take that year will help to). Thus, I am taking the MCAT in Spring 09 and applying Summer 09 to matriculate in Fall of 2010

Hey, we'll be in the same graduating class! Where do you want to go to med school? I mean, I know you'll probably be applying lots of places, but what are your top choices?

OSU would definitely be #1 as I'd like to stay close to home for now. It largely depends on where I am at in life when I apply.... like where my little sister goes to college at and if I am in a serious relationship at the time.

I lived in Philadelphia this summer for an internship and was not very fond of city living so that will probably eliminate UPenn, Drexel, Temple, and Jefferson.

I originally wanted to apply this year, but I took the july mcat, and didn't want to deal with applying/getting everything ready while studying. I also thought it'd be smarter to get more clinical experience and work experience before applying.

Plus, I like my break from school =)

I'm applying next year. I still have a year of OCHEM to finish first...

Ugh, OCHEM!

I think that those people who haven't registered and are lurking in Pre-allo need to register and vote in this poll! For the amount of views we should have a ton MORE votes!!!

Sweet, I'm only applying with 155 others this year. That means I have a good chance of getting in, right? Right?!....🙄
LoL 😀 Yup, me too! We're going to rock this cycle, even though it's up to 162 now!

I'm only applying with 23 others. I'm like.. guaranteed to be a doctor!

p.s. how come my signature only shows up like 1/2 the times i post?

p.s.s. i love how it shows up after i edit

Yeah... I have the same issue =p

Yeah... I have the same issue =p
It appears that your sig only shows up in your first post on a particular page in a thread. So if you make like 3 posts on the same page in a thread, only the first one with display your signature. I don't mind it - some people have pretty big signatures, and they can take up major space in a thread if displayed in every single post.

This year will be the first time and hopefully the only time. 😀

Hey add me to the list..applying '09 and, God willing, matriculating '10!

Next year for me.

Still have to finish the 2 OChem classes and take the MCAT in the spring.

I'm a philosophy major. I'll be taking my chances this year.

Hopefully this is my 1 and only year...

21 y/o and I'm dangerously close to being a sophomore, I'm hoping to take a year off and travel and then apply 🙂

I'm in the same situation except my parents keep pushing me to apply this year just because they think the adcom takes re applicants more seriously than first time applicants. I don't think thats the case and I'm almost sure i'm not getting in this year because my ECs are really weak and I have a 3.522 with a low MCAT... I don't know what to do though.

I'm not sure. I'll be graduating in either two or three years, depending on how heavy a courseload I keep.

I wanted to apply in the US this year, but I didn't perform as well as I thought I would on the MCAT. I applied to 1 international school, I might not even apply in the US if I get into this school. 😉 Good luck every1

Ich auch. 🙂
You mean "mich auch", right?

I have three years before I apply probably.....that's what I get for having international business as one of my majors.
