I know that MSAR and AAMC have MCAT data out there, but I thought an SDN MCAT poll could be interesting for 2008 Applicants.
 
I would expect the average mcat to be much higher an SDN, which is filled with over achievers(which is not a bad thing).
 
My guess is that the median will be around a 32-33

Which shows you that SDN is skewed and the reason people with high MCAT scores don't get in is something other than their MCAT.
 
These bunches are sort of odd, I've heard from alot of people including advisors that say 31-33 and 34-36 are basically similar ranges to them and 37+ is godly.

But I dont want to seem like I'm knocking this (I'm not), I think its cool to have this kind of thing to get a reality check.
 
umm...I'm ******ed beyond all reason. Disregard one of the votes on the "under 20" category because for some reason I thought that this was age, not score...lol maybe I'm dumb enough to actually get under 20! (come on, sept 12th...)

Well not ever medical school applicant is going to answer this poll, and something tells me that at SDN the type of student to actively participate on this forum, and then actually answer the poll is probably a little more hardcore than the next guy. 🙂

If school acceptances are based on SAT/MCAT/GRE, my life would be so different.

All I have to say is wow... I think this truly sums up the nature of this forum. Talk about a skew! We are all truly neurotic premeds.
 
Yup Sdn average Approx. 34, national applicant average 28, and national average of all takers 25. Pretty ridiculous, especially since a 34 is like 93% or somewhere around there.
 
20% of SDN is in the 37+ camp, absolutely amazing. That's supposed to be somewhere around 98th percentile.

First off, congrats to all - those are impressive numbers. Secondly, I hate all of you over-achieving bastards! =P

I did well on the MCAT but procrastinated a little on applications so SDN is completely freaking me out. Complete mid-Sept to early-Oct with 3 interviews. Not bad, but so many people submitted way early. Jealous.
 
Majority scored 37+? I call bogus on this one. It's just statistically impossible. People gotta have enough sense in them not to lie in an anonymous poll.

Actually I just clicked 37+ to screw with the type-A douchebags that infest this forum. I expect many others did the same. The personalities in pre-allo just beg to be screwed with. Lulz.

My goodness. With numbers like these perhaps SDN should start teaching med school.
