Choosing Direct Ophthalmoscope & Retinoscope

I need to purchase a direct ophthalmoscope and retinoscope for next year...does anyone have any recommendations of which company I should buy off and why (ignoring cost)? I was given the options Welch Allen, Keeler, and Heine but I'm open to other suggestions.

You can't go wrong with any of those. You need to try them all, and go with the one that feels most comfortable. You will learn to be proficient with whatever you choose. For the record, I bought the Heine kit because I didn't like the way the Welch Allyn felt at the time. My associate has the Welch Allyn. I occasionally use her stuff, and it works just as well, and now I am comfortable with both.

I've used Keeler and Welch Allyn. It seems like WA is the most popular when I've floated to multiple clinics in my career.

I bought a Keeler, but I like the brightness of the WA. My vote is for the WA.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. I bought the WA and so did most of my classmates. Pick the one that feels the most comfortable; whichever one you chose you will learn to use well.

Yeah, whatever feels comfortable is best. I personally like the lightweight Li-Ion handle of Welch Allyn so that's why I got it.
