How important is a grade in Anatomy class for the dental admission?
I just got a B- in Anatomy and Physiology class and its the lowest grade that i ever got in my 2.5 years of college education.
My GPA would still be 3.8 (cum) and around 3.9(sci).
 
you need to calm down a b- is nothing, esp with all the extra work youve done and if that is your gpa.

Honestly, why would you even post this? Especially under the title of "Bad Bad!!!!!help!!!!" Do you really think it's that bad? Do you really need help? You're probably not trying to insult anyone, but you know your gpa is stellar, so there's really no reason to post this.

Your in big trouble since with your GPA, you are expected to be consistent and this shows you slacked off. Retake it

I highly agree.... this can really hurt your chance of getting into a dental school. I mean, with a B- in such an important class, you are really pushing it. ALso, because it is SUCH an important class, you most likely should take more upper year courses in anatomy and physiology so that the admissions committee will see that you are capable of handling the curriculum. Also, because it is not the most challenging course out there, it really shows a weakness on your part to handle this material. If the committee sees that you are starting to slack at this stage of the game, you might want to re-consider dentistry as a profession...

everyone is being mean... i will be nice..... i had a 3.8/3.8, and yes at an interivew they asked about a B and why I got it..... A&P is important to do well in b/c first year dschool has a lot of it..... is a B- good.. NO!!... but the question is... will you be fine? yes!! if you do well on the DAT.... i bet you every person that posted negative has a much lower GPa.... you are a good student and should be proud.....

You are not suited for dentistry .I'm very much serious.Instead of retaking the freaking anatomy course,go look after another profession.Save your time!

haha wow I'm starting to feel bad too... we're all shredding him/her. We're all responding like this because you have great stats and don't need to worry. That said, don't try to be such a perfectionist. That will not suit you well in dental school.

I'll be the 1st to admit that my GPA isn't a 3.9, but posting and crying about you ONE B- seems a bit silly

Actually my friend was in the same situation, he was a straight A student from Yale and he kinda messed up in an upper level bio class (B- i think), he applied to 17 schools with a 22 on his DAT. He had 14 interviews pre dec 1 and no acceptances. Unfortunately its really competitive getting into dental school these days. He ended up slitting his wrist vertically. Neways good luck to you.

don't worry about the B-, worry about the ZERO's you have for your DAT's. Bring those up, and you'll be stellar.

at least he retained enough from anatomy to know to slit VERTICALLY...

I got something to cheer you up. I'll be needing dental assistants and hygenists in 3 years, and you're the perfect candidate! Look at it this way...you get all the practical benefits of dentistry without having go thru the hassles of dental school. And with your GPA, you're perfect!

and how effing dare anyone out there make fun of sajjy after all he's been through! He loves his aunt, he went through a divorce. He has two effing kids. His wife turned out to be a user and cheater, and now he is going through a custody battle. All you people care about is making money off of him. He's a human! Leave sajjy alone!!!

making a B may seem like a big deal now, but you'll be fine. seriously. You still know the subject well, and I'm sure you're trying your hardest. Just do what you can do, and get on with it; dental schools won't reject you for it!

but on a serious note, there have been some kids in the news recently that killed their parents because they felt they couldn't please them academically....from one story i read, when asked why he killed his parents, this one kid said something about not being a straigh A student...

Go for a run, chase some squirrels, or do anything else that can help you relax, because it's not really "Bad Bad !!!! Help !!!!!! If the grade annoys you that much, spend the next year and a half taking advanced physio, comparative anatomy, or etc. to show that you know how to handle these classes.

I got into dental school and I've never taken anatomy. So, I don't think it's that much of a big deal. However, if you do take it you should shoot for the A.

You are fine but just be aware that a lot of dental material will probably be handled like the Anatomy and Physiology class i.e. intense rote memorization.
 
when you say a B- ... dose your school gie GPA points on -/+ ?? Or will you transcript just show a B? My school we only get A,B,C's and so on... so the dental school would never know if it was an 89 or an 81... it sucks really bad tho because there is a big difference in the two grades...
