I wondered when someone would start this thread. It's always fun to go through the neuroticism together!

Did everyone get the UL secondary already?? They screen so I'm feeling neurotic with my new MCAT score and being out-of-state. I love Louisville. Any out-of-staters get the secondary already?Posted via Mobile Device

does anyone know anything about the rural program? it sounds interesting but they don't give toooo much info on their site.

most screens aren't too bad (i saw in a u wisconsin email they screen out below 7 on mcat sections and 2.8 gpa). i wouldn't worry, maybe they come out in batches.

Quick Question: Is it 500 characters with or without spaces?

Yes.

has anyone figured out how to electronically upload a photo for UL?

Got it! It's L-O-N-G. For some of the essays, like the one about difficulties that would reflect on your grades, if you don't feel like you had any answer to the question, are you just leaving it blank? Or should I write, "I had no difficulties impairing my academics" or something of the sort?

I really wish AMCAS would review my application...I submitted it a while ago. They are being much slower than they were last year....for me they are anyways. Last year, I had already received my secondary and submitted it. My application still says "Ready for Review" and I am thinking they will get to it this week after looking at the AMCAS verification thread. I feel behind even though I know it is still relatively early. Bring on the secondaries!

I wouldn't waste any space if they give it to you. If you don't feel you were impaired, I'd at least add a couple sentences explaining you don't feel at a disadvantage and that, while your extra curriculars were time consuming and extensive (😉), you still managed to perform well academically.

No need to leave a blank and let the reviewer come to their own conclusions.

So anyone else having trouble with the "Program Information" (or whatever) tab? It's the one where they ask about the rural campus, MD/MBA, MD/PhD, and all that. It won't let me save any of my choices. It just goes an error page.

Anyone else having this issue?

Seriously? Your app looks great. Believe me, if I got a secondary - yours is on it's way. Like someone else said, it prolly just goes out in batches. Good luck!

Bah - nevermind. I see you have gotten it now. At least I don't have to worry about leaving any essays blank - with my past academic record I have plenty of explaining to do!

I submitted my secondary a couple days ago and I got one of the reminder to submit emails today, meaning it hasn't been processed. how long does it usually take for them to "receive" your secondary?

This is the first year that they're doing the online submission, so maybe there are some growing pains. Or maybe they're waiting to receive your submission receipt by snail mail before they call it "submitted."

Still haven't received my Louisville secondary...I have received and submitted UC's and also UK's which consisted of a couple days of essay writing since they have 70,000 of them in their application! Last year, Louisville had to e-mail me a couple of times because they said they noticed that I hadn't started my secondary and for some reason I hadn't been getting an e-mail about it. I am on a different e-mail address this year however and it isn't showing up in my Spam folder either, so I am guessing they just haven't got to me yet. Anyways, good luck all and I am sure we will all be talking a lot over the next few months!

Good luck with all those secondaries buddy. I'm fighting through them right now too.

Here we go again!

Since I'm not verified by AMCAS yet, I don't have their secondary yet, are the questions after why UofL the same for instate applicants?

Also, for whoever was wondering about the rural program, I believe you spend most of your rotation time at their rural training area, instead of in Louisville or somewhere else.

So...hows everyone's secondary going? Seems like this thread is a little barren...

It is a little barren. Any more Louisville interview invites going out??

Does any one know how many OOS UofL got interviewd last year? And how many accepted and Matriculated? Thank you!

According to USNWR, for Fall 2007 there were 1,762 OOS applicants, 93 of them were granted interviews, 62 were admitted, and 29 enrolled.

Read about your invite in the other thread... congrats! I'm just hoping they mark me as complete sometime soon. 😛

Yeah, congrats on the interview. It can never be a bad thing to get one so early!

👍

Thank you both for the info and encouraging words. I am shocked to get interview the same day when the file is completed.

Any suggestion on which hotel to stay for interview on the 28th for UofL, or even better any one willing to share hotel room? Thank you!

I know the Seelbach Hotel is on Fourth Street. That's about a half mile walk to the admissions office, though I'm not sure if that's something you'd want to do in interview attire. You'd also have to pass under I-65, which may be troublesome, but that's the closest hotel I know of to the admissions office.

Edit: It occurs to me that I have no idea what the room prices would be since the Seelbach is supposed to be pretty swank. Sorry if this doesn't help at all.

Thank you LossForWords, I will check into it.

is Louisville having problems with anyone else's picture? I uploaded a .jpg a week ago and got an email today saying I need to save my picture as .jpg and upload it.

I had problems when I submitted. I ended up just emailing them my picture as an attachment and they uploaded it to my app themselves.

I probably should have done that as well. Good thinking.

Well, they sent me multiple emails saying "picture upload failed" after I kept trying to upload. Finally, they sent me an email saying "send us your picture in an email." So it's actually good thinking on their part. ha. 😀

My AMCAS was verified on 7/10 and I got Louisville's secondary on 8/6. It's a long one! I hope to submit it within the hour...

Yeah it is. Somehow only having 500 characters to work with makes it that much harder, huh?

Yes, it certainly does!

Question -
For the shadowing/volunteer activities section, it says "List activity, dates, title." When they say "list activity" do they want a description of the activity, or name of the place where it was at? Because I don't know if I should write something like XXX Health Clinic, dates, Spanish Interpreter OR spanish interpreting at free health clinic, dates, Volunteer. Hope that question makes sense...

I'd write however is most descriptive but still fits

That's pretty much what I did. Makes it a little more challenging, but you can get it all in if you try.

As far as the picture, I just mailed mine in. They needed that summary sheet sent by surface mail anyway, so I just stuck a headshot in there too. Is the online method that much more of a hassle?
