Whoo! Baylor's secondary is open a couple days earlier than the office predicted :D

I nit-picked at my essay all evening and finally submitted.

It's been a productive night, I knocked out both Hopkins and Baylor :D

The only one I currently have pending is Michigan...

That was pretty short and simple, but I stressed over the essay anyway. I'm kind of nervous about that one... moreso than the others I've done so far.
 
What did you guys talk about in the essay? It says not to repeat anything in the AMCAS app, but if I thought it was important enough to tell them about, I at least mentioned it in the primary.

I used one of the essays I had used in my Texas app and just edited it. I forgot that I can reuse essays that I already have written... oops.
 
Yea, I had already talked about the many of my other activities in my PS, so I just chose two activities that were not in my PS, were still really important to me, and related to a central theme.

I spliced together one of my Hopkins essays about teaching and one of my Michigan essays about clinical research and added an intro and conclusion. Tada, a new essay! :D

New essay but it specifically talks about overcoming diversity :confused:

Or am I misreading it.. and it can be about anything I want them to know about
 
The prompt that I answered seems to be asking us to tell them anything we think will be important in them evaluating our application.


They mentioned overcoming adversity as one example, but also extracurriculars, etc.

Not to sound rude, but be careful what you wish for. After seeing the amount of neurotic, competitive cutthroats there you may be singing a different tune after your first year.

Can somebody else confirm that the prompt hasn't changed over the course of the weekend?

I definitely did not write about overcoming adversity, because the prompt I saw is the one I pasted on the 1st post of this thread.

Now, I'm getting paranoid that they changed the prompt over the weekend...
 
The prompt didn't change, i submitted mine this morning and wrote on the topic that you have on the first post of this thread. No worries =)

You fit all that in 2000 chars?! Impressive.
 
It's too bad Baylor uses AMCAS' LOE service. A bunch of us would probably be complete if not for that.
 
So what is your time line experience with the letter service so far? How long after AMCAS receives them do they process them? How long after they process them do the schools receive them?

Today I got a nifty viewbook in the mail. I was hoping for an interview invite, thought.
 
My application is complete and it has been reviewed. It says they will let me know something as soon as they are able to. Is this bad?

Who knows? Maybe you're set to get an interview invite but they aren't sending them until x date.

Does it say you have been reviewed already, or that you are going to be reviewed?

Mine says:

Your application is complete and currently being reviewed by the committee.

It says I have been reviewed already and I am eligible for an interview until February. Since it says I am eligible for an interview does this mean that they have not yet rejected after reviewing my secondary. I know some schools review your secondary and decide they don't want you. Or does it mean that it's just to early in the process to reject me?...lol...that would be considerate of them.

Rejection letters are mailed in early March.

By the way, if you guys/gals have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. I'll be flying down Friday to move into my apartment then orientation starts on Monday. Good luck!

Oh, and if I remember correctly, the first Baylor interviews didn't go out until early August (I got mine for their first interview session on 8/9) for early September (9/7), so there's still some waiting to be done, though the new AMCAS LOR system might slow things down a tiny bit I suspect.

For those of you applying to Baylor and not using a pre-med committee LOR, how many individual letters of recommendation did you submit?
 
For those of you that already received the Baylor secondary--is there a place in the application for you to explain your activities since you have graduated and/or a Supplemental Information section? In other words, is this 2000 character section the only place for us to write something? Thanks!

I was only just able to check my Baylor status and found that it's complete and under review. But I have no idea when both those steps actually happened (at least after 7/17 b/c that's when AMCAS got my LORs).

You know, I think that quick rejections are better than stringing people along, because that's just prolonging the agony. You could even add more schools if you like.

Is there an official deadline for Baylor's secondaries?

I know the UC's say they are due within 4 weeks of receipt of the secondary, and I've been sitting on baylors for just about 4 weeks now... so I want to make sure they arent like the UCs.
 
"Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able."


So does anyone know whether this is good or bad yet?
