Baylor has rolling admissions so the sooner you get your interview, the better.

I just got an interview invite!! I was trying to search for posts about last year's interview questions but couldn't find anything. Anyone know anything about Baylor's interviews last year and what were typical questions? I'm OOS and would love to get into Baylor. I've also heard you can get texas residency by moving to texas the summer before matriculation, is that true?

I guess the part I failed to mention was I heard if your spouse starts a job in texas than I've heard you can get residency faster than the one year it would normally take to establish residency.

Did anyone have a problem becoming complete at Baylor because Baylor was not able to access your LOR from AMCAS?

AMCAS has received my LOR, but Baylor says they can't access them and said they were having some technical glitches with AMCAS' new pilot program.

Question: Next year, let's say I plan to submit AMCAS on opening day (early June). Suppose I have a strong GPA, but my undergrad university isn't that great. If I take the MCAT in mid-June (which means my scores will be submitted in mid-July), can I be rejected in the meantime? My fingers are crossed that my MCAT can make up for my bottom-tier undergrad school and not-too-impressive list of extracurriculars. Baylor's been my dream school all along, but I know it won't be easy as an OOS applicant (even though I live only ~50 miles from TX 🙁). I won't apply 'til next year, but I just want to have a gameplan before then.

They won't review your application until after you get your new scores, if you indicate that you'll be taking a future MCAT. So you couldn't be rejected before your new MCAT scores come in.

Most schools will put your application on hold until they get an MCAT score...and usually when a student is rejected without one it means there's no MCAT that could rescue their application. If you take the MCAT in mid-July all that should mean is that you can't be complete till mid-August. I have a friend who got into Baylor off the waitlist and took her MCAT in August. Her situation is not the same as yours--her GPA was 3.6ish with a lower science GPA and she went to an Ivy. But I think that at least proves that they are not in the habit of rejecting people without MCAT scores. I don't know what her MCAT was, but it was less than a 36.

How about focusing on what you CANchange: a "not-too-impressive list of extracurriculars." What's stopping you from working on that now? You have a whole year!

Believe me, it's definitely a work in progress. I've already got a nice volunteer spot set up for fall quarter. Not to worry. Thanks for the responses. Just the answers I was looking for. Adios, Baylor thread; see you next year!

"Our records indicate that we have not received the letters of recommendation from .
Our supporting document deadline is August 1st for Early Decision, December 1st for Regular Admission, and November 1st for MD/PhD applicants.


Baylor College of Medicine interviews from September through February.
You are eligible for interview consideration through February.
Records are updated every 24 hours."

Something seems to be messed up with their system, it does not even tell me which letters of recommendation they are missing.
Anyone else who was "reviewed" see the same message on their status page?

Just checked my status and it says I'm up for review now.
 
Me: What days of the week do you interview? Any difference between is and oos?

Baylor: "We only interview on Fridays (not every Friday) and the groups consist of both Texans and Non-Texans."

I hadn't checked my baylor status page for a while. I checked yesterday and I got the 'application has been reviewed by the committee.' I am going to be optimistic, but I woudn't be surprised at all if they were just toying with my emotions...

reviewed just means that you were reviewed and ranked in order for selection for an interview.

they take the highest ranked people first, then move down the list. i got the reviewed message early on last year but didn't get an invite until months later.

it doesn't really tell you anything either way.
