got mine... their system is kinda weird. looks like you apply to UF as a whole and then they decide if they want to send you a secondary?

good call - or to make extra money
I was pretty happy to pay $30 as opposed to the $100 I'm having to pay at several other schools. It stings that my secondaries are gonna end up being double my AMCAS fee which was over $900...I want to be an attending already...

I'm gonna be upset if this place doesn't show me some alumni love...

ugh just realized u HAVE to pay 30 dollar fee before even receiving secondary...if only i didnt want to go to uf badly

That $30 is basically your secondary fee. USF and FIU are both only $30 too. The next fee you'll hopefully have to pay at UF is tuition.

does anyone know how long uf waits to send out their secondary? i'm just dying to fill out uf's secondary

BAH.

I must be blind. I'm looking for MD under the programs of study dropdown on the application for graduate admissions. I tried, on the previous page, doing Doctorate of Philo and Doctorate (other than ...etc) and couldn't find it on either. Also tried the specialist category.

Can someone tell me what to do?

Ugh. Time to buy new contacts.

Received a decline for a Secondary application today despite indicating that my application should be on hold until my MCAT is scored. I emailed them asking about it, we'll see how that goes.

Received this secondary today.. comes as an attachment in your inbox, no website

welp, this is my first rejection

not too surprised, not a FL resident.

anyone know what uf screens for? just wondering how I got the secondary especially since my mcat sucks

Can someone post the secondary prompts please. Thank you!

just sent in secondary! i can't wait to hear back from uf

I'm a non-traditional... do you think they'll care if I sent them 1 extra LOR? It's from a student that I think had good insight on my character.

Based on my experiences, they won't care. When I was sending in updates this year, they told me that I could send in some extra rec letters as well.

Does anyone know the stats on who gets secondaries? I'd like to think I'm at least a little special :). UF is my number 1 choice along with FSU (just want in state + big state school). Really hoping I get an interview here even though my mcat was just mediocre!!

For those of you who got turned down what was your mcat and gpa? also in-state or out of state? I'm considering applying, but don't want to waste money if I'm going to get screened out of secondary. I'm an out-of-state student.

Waitlisted: Instate, 3.61 cum. gpa, 3.7 sci gpa, 30 mcat

did everyone email the secondary back or send it via mail?

Nearly 0 chance out of state... they admitted 5 last year (I'm surprised they did)... and they were probably with STRONG ties to the area.

I sent mine back last Thursday via regular mail & was complete on Monday.

Waitlisted already? What's up?

Eep...those are my exact same stats. Hopefully they'll like my ECs.

oops. it was for 2008-2009 cycle.

and it took me forever to finish my application which didnt help either...so get it done asap!

hey quick question guys. For the "personal statement" section, i copied what was almost a full page of writing from a microsoft word document into that section and with the way they have it set up its only at half a page!! Are you guys trying to fill that page up or just trying to get a message across?

Dude, concise is the key. <-- see? gets my point across

Mine was only like 2/3 of a page. Not that Serious.

I got a secondary from this school and I am OOS with no ties to the state... did they give everyone an app or was it screened, I don't want to waste my time applying here if there is no chance for me... and whats with needing a peer letter wtf

peer letter is UF's unique 'twist' and if you have no ties, you have little chance. its only 30 bucks though and you're applying early though...

The peer letter was kind of annoying. Just one more thing to add to the process. I was so good about getting my committee letter sent to AMCAS early and now I gotta go hunt down a buddy and put him through it.

I went to UF for undergrad and there's plenty more "unique" little things to come...

Unexpectedly and out of the blue, I was able to get 2 peer letters - I sent them both (whew!). Does anyone know when we're to expect some communication from them?

I don't know, I think the peer letter provides a unique insight into who you are as a person that you can't really convey yourself. It lets them see who you are not in a professional manner (as through your LORs) but on an emotional and personal level.

Except for 75% of the kids who write their own letter and have their frat brother sign off on it.

For those thinking of doing this, make sure it's on offical frat boy letterhead and signed.

I do however agree that if down correctly, an adcom can get a different perspective on the applicant.

Are people stating all of the other med schools they are applying to and there past tests scores?

I would also like to know if others are putting the list of medical schools to which they are applying??

Who else is interested in the research track? It really appeals to me with my background research.
Psh, forget working in a lab all day. I'm a man of action. I plan to be the first surgeon to perform heart surgery on top of a train and then jump off before it blows up and close as we're base jumping of the bridge. Gonna throw in some fireworks for effect.

This is such a beautiful campus!!! I accidentally applied here for 2008, i meant to apply to Florida University, but after paying the amcas and realizing which school this was I decided to finish the application. I got a rejection email one minute after I got a completion email... :( at least I know they didn't read my app! :)

Good luck everyone!

Whoever goes here is SUPER lucky, I am sooo jealous!

I am not Super excited about this school. A lot of students have given negative feedback about the competitive nature of the school. I would still go here if it was the only place I was accepted though of course
