summer opportunities for freshmen?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone? I'm really interested in summer research as well...most of these research programs cater to upper level students in the sciences with tons of previous research experience! Is there any stipend-included summer internship that might let in a freshman?

I would check with your premed advisor. Most of the the summer research stuff I know about is for upperclassmen with 60 or more credit hours.
You could always spend the summer either volunteering in a hospital or doing a lot of physician shadowing (and then also either working or taking a class). Dont underestimate the importance of lots of physician shadowing and starting it early!

Yeah SMDEP is ur best bet..there are other programs like that for freshman as well. Like if you're from the tri-state..we have Medprep..other than that..if no programs interest you..gain some clinical experience which is extremely important.
