Midwestern Dental School, any advice?

I've been looking at Midwestern Dental school in Glendale Arizona (Arizona is the midwest? WTF!) I'm curious what Dental students there think of it. Are the facilities good, are the faculty ok or are they DB's. What about Glendale is it a cool place to live? Any opinions would be welcome and appreciated.🙂

Midwestern has a sister school in Chicago (hence midwestern). i love it here. it's a really fun place to go to dental school. the faculty are like friends, they all have open door policies and would do anything for ya. glendale is very "suburb-y" if that makes any sense. if you feel like you have ot be in a big city with lots of culture and what not, this might not be a place that you'd like too much. if you want to live in a pretty safe neighborhood and buy a house where you go to school, then you might love it here.

it gets crazy hot from mid june till about mid september, but other than that its beautiful weather. the facilities are all brand spankin new, so you wont have any complaints there. everything you need is provided for you, which is nice because its kind of on the pricey side as far as tuition and such goes, so its nice that all the little things are taken care of. (ie you dont have to collect real teeth because they have a tooth bank, and you dont have to pay for the plastic teeth which i've heard are like $2 or something a piece when you want to practice drilling)

the cafeteria/ lounge is cool. breakfast is awesome, lunch is the opposite of awesome. ping pong, pool tables, tv. we got a gym, indoor raquetball, indoor and outdoor volleyball and basketball courts. a big grill out area etc. 3 floors of library and a 24 hour quiet study center. having a campus is nice, becasue some places have the entire dental school in 1 building. its nice to stroll around the campus. parking is never an issue.

the students that come here are all very friendly and helpful. this is not a place for the ultra-competitve gunners. they wouldn't like it so much. the whole class shares our study guides and relay what we've heard from professors about the tests and so forth. everyone wants to succeed together.

if you're ever in town, or any other SDN'ers, and want a tour and want to meet some faculty, i'd be happy to show you around and introduce you to some good people to know. hope this helps! good luck to all that are applying. i know that its crazy tough to get into dental school and a long process. keep your heads up and stay motivated!

👍Everything Jason said is true. The D2s are a great class and have really taken a lot of effort to get to know us D1s and help us out. For example, before our lab practicals, a few D2s will host a seminar in the sim clinic for us with tips and strategies on how to improve our efficiency and how to make the project turn out the way it's supposed to. We all study hard, and as Jason said, it is a very collaborative environment. Study guides are shared (but not exams; we don't get to keep any old exams or quizzes, so there aren't any competitive advantages). We're also starting to get into doing more community service projects and organizing more class socials. As for the faculty, they will do anything in their power to help us succeed. The class schedule for D1s changed from last year based upon feedback from the D2 class. All in all, everything is great about this school except the cost. The only upside to the cost is that you can see where the $$$ is going.

Hey I know this is kind of a late response, but I have an interview at Midwestern Jan 12 and from what I've been reading it won't be like my UConn interview... any advice would be SO greatly appreciated! Open file, essay??, types of questions, etc... Thanks!

go there for an interview, from what i see is that this school lack diversity.The food there sucks.
However, the good thing about Midwestern is that their technology is awesome, everything is spanking new.

There is one good reason to go to Midwestern and that is its proximity to quite possibly the best Greek food on the planet: The Golden Greek

our caf has AWESOME breakfast! lunch eeehhhhhhh yeah not so much.

How does the interview look like? Any essay questions?

While it may be a fun place to go, make sure you consider and think hard about the cost of attendance. If a cheaper option is available, don't even think twice.
