and from my understanding, if for any reason you change your mind you can opt out but you will lose your deposit, right?

It depends on the school, for example for PCO they will refund you back $400 out of the $500 deposit. But I think the fee should be around the same for the schools, around $100, which isn't that much for reserving a spot.

ha! that's laughable. sorry. I paid $1,500.00 to reserve my seat at SCCO, completely non-refundable. I have no problem with that since it is my #1 choice. but still, that $1500 immediately made me re-think my celebration plans that day.
i honestly *thought* anywhere from $100-$500 was going to the reserve cost, but i guess that's not the case for SCCO. It goes towards 1st year tuition anyway, so again, i have no problem with paying up at this time. it just took me by surprise.
*caveat: they do let you split the $1500 into 2 payments, but you still get the idea that it's incredibly costly

Oh, my geez.... $1500! Yea PCO's fees can also be split into 2 payments, one due by Jan, and the other I think by June? Correct me of i'm wrong. Total due is $1000 also used on first year tuition.

everybody i talk to has horror stories about SCCO from the interview process to the fee to hold your seat!

No, most people pay just $750 to reserve their seats at SCCO, and $250 is refundable by the written request. Only people who are certain of SCCO pay full deposit of $1500. Also, I thought the interview at SCCO was perfectly fine. It was more formal compared to other schools, but the interviewers were super nice.
