I realize I'm jumping the gun a bit, but I am working at KSU's supplemental application and found a new field (field that wasn't there last year) that they require applicants to fill out.

They ask for the last 45 semester hours of undergraduate work. I e-mailed Ronnie because I was having some problems calculating this.

Use exactly the last 45 hours of undergraduate work. If getting exactly 45 hours makes you dip into grades of only a portion of a semester, use the best grades from that semester to make it an even 45.

Hopefully that makes sense. I figured I'd post this so it would help some people out.

Let the fun begin! Good luck all :luck:

Just wanted to say good luck to everyone applying and if you have any questions about Kansas feel free to ask (either as a post or a PM if you feel more comfortable!)

Where at on K-State's website can you find their requirements? As far as GPA and how they calculate these things? 😕

I am JUST now starting my pre-reqs and having to do it part time, so it's going to take me four years, but I want the best possible chance of being a great candidate and getting accepted.

Some useful links:

Requirements including prereqs and the required GPA: http://www.vet.k-state.edu/admit/requirements.htm

What a "complete" application consists of including the number/e-mail for office of the dean if you have further questions: http://www.vet.k-state.edu/admit/apply.htm

My class statistics including a link for the full statistics ppt.: http://www.vet.k-state.edu/admit/admit_stats.htm

I couldn't find a link for how to calculate the last 45 hours though. I know when I applied those were the main three links I looked at.

I like this rule!👍
And thanks for those links, very helpful!

Yayyy, K-state applicants! I've met a few students in their veterinary and pre-veterinary programs. Everyone seems so nice.

I really like their system for calculating GPA. I also love the fact their required GPA is lower than most schools 😍

Awesome!!! Thanks a lot for the info! 🙂
I guess I'll have to make sure I check with each school that wants the last forty five if they want to whole semester or just the best grades of the semester......I was under the assumption that it was the whole semester previously.

But this is so much better! Thank you!!! 👍

I applied to KSU last year, and am planning on reapplying this year. Do you guys know if they save the transcripts from last year?

I am applying OOS. Hopefully all goes well 👍

I doubt that they save them. I would send them again.

Quick question although I may have to call, I am in a graduate program but have taken a few (two) undergraduate classes.. I'm not sure if this would count in the last 45 as I can not include my graduate classes.

Wow that was confusing do you think I can include these classes?

I think it should be the last 45 credit hours, so if that includes the undergrad classes chronologically, they should be included in the calculation

Keep in mind, though, required GPA is a bare minimum, not the actual standard for getting accepted. You want to look at the stats for the most recent accepted class to get a better idea how competitive you might be. If you're close to that minimum GPA, you're probably going to need a lot of other exceptional qualifications in your app to get in.

Is it just me or did they add another question at the end of the supplemental application about if you would be interested in pursuing a DVM/PhD degree? Glad I haven't sent in my supplemental app yet. So does this possibly mean that the supplemental application will continue to change up until the deadline?

*sticks hand in the air*
Hi again, just getting back into the forum after last year's interview followed by rejection. Did anyone utilize the "file review" with K-State? If so, how did it go?

Considering I sent my supplemental in before this question was added (and I am applying to other combined programs), this is a serious WTF from me.

You should just write to them (or call) and let them know. If you are positive it wasn't originally there, just tell them you sent it in before the question was added, and would like to know whether you should submit a supplement to be added to your application.

Considering I have the blank PDF saved to my desktop, I will give them a call tomorrow when I have some free time.

Edit: the "old" PDF of course

The big question would be: When did you save the PDF to your computer? If It was before the official supplement was out, then you might be out of luck. If it was new at the beginning of the application period, then you could call the Deans office and talk with Dr. Elmore. He would probably be willing to work with you.

I saved it from when it appeared in June/July (I clicked on Apply Now as you would now.) I called them Friday and nobody was picking up in the Office for the Dean of Admissions. Will try again sometime this week when I'm free, perhaps tomorrow.

Update: Called and had them make a note in my file as to my interest in the combined program.

Hey, for the supplemental packet, some of my colleges I have attended wont send official transcripts to an individual so I sent all my transcripts directly to the university. On the packet form though it says these all have to be in one envelope. Er? Do I need to get my transcripts again and put them into this packet?

Quick verification, or just gaining general consensus but how are you paying for the supplemental application?

does anybody know roughly when KSU CVM interviews out-of-state applicants?

Last year it was 12/18-19 and two weekends in January. I interviewed 1/9/11, and then I think 1/22 was the other date but for better data see the 2015 interview invites thread HERE

^THANKS.... I don't know why I feel better knowing this information but I do...

Just bumping this thread since Kansas has started sending out invites! Gonna be obsessively checking my email from now on!🙂

I wonder if the ones sent out today were for IS only? I hope some OOS ones get sent out soon if that's the case!

Congrats Little Wiz on the first OOS invite.

Now I get to refresh my e-mail like mad, and freak out every day about not getting one this year. Good luck everyone :xf:

😱 what they are sending OOS invites already!?

From reading over last years thread, it looks like there were three "waves" of invites sent out for each of the three weekends, then they took people from the viable applicant list...since it looks like they started a week earlier this year, I hope is means we hear earlier for everything!

Just thought I'd say good luck to everyone waiting to hear back. I was OOS last year and heard about the 2nd week of December and had my interview the 22nd of January. Once again hope y'all get interviews and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Just taking a quick break from studying to wish good luck to everyone on the upcoming interview invites and subsequent interviews. Don't feel too bad if you don't get an invite right way. Last year they said that they were going to send all of the invites out in November and I ended up getting mine in December. Stay positive!

*bump*
I'd say TGIF, but really I want it to be Monday in case they send out another batch of invites. Then again, the evil self-doubt that is inherent in the application process says "maybe they don't want to interview you this year." :scared:

Good luck to everyone :luck:

Does anyone know / have an idea when interviews r going to be sent out??? I can't even count the number of times I've hit the refresh button on my email

Thanks fromthebox! Yup got my e-mail a few hours ago. First interview invite, so excited!
