UOP interview!! and i got the 7-8week email

I am the one who probably freaked out the most when I got the email about 7-8 week minimum yesterday and panicked. My brother yelled at me last night and told me to calm down.

Got an interview today from UOP so don't worry to much about that email if you applied early. The lady said that email was sent to everyone without interviews to get people to stop calling. If you applied early they have already looked at what you got!

So excited! 😱

I bet she didn't expect you to tell all the nervous predents this....

Her phone is gonna be ringing off the hook soon.
 
She said so many people apply and they are slow at updating things so people call a lot. They call her a lot. I assume when people call asking about their app. she can't call as many people to schedule interviews.

I got an interview this morning too! AND I received that "under actice review" email last night!

AADSAS mailed out on 07/04 and application complete on 07/18. I received the invite on 08/31. I'm guessing it takes about 6 weeks even though they say 7-8.
 
Got the email last night as well and got the phone call for an interview last night!
 
Anyone know how late into the evening they call? Also, has anyone who had their app sent after the July 4th mailing received an invite?

This. I'm beginning to lose hope on this whole Dental School thing... I applied to 18 schools and every single one has handed out interviews and I havent heard a peep.

Just think of it like any other office job. they will call people during their work hours. you can probably guess by 5pm pacific time or so they will start to go home. If you were slated for an interview putting off until a next day to contact you won't mean the end of the world to them. (though I"m sure it would feel like it is to you) If you were the last one on the list sure I can see someone might stay late and call. but its like finishing off a task.

this is a UOP so too early(as in 5-6am) isn't an issue(except for hawaii and alaska folks).
 
I just read that someone got an interview with an august submission date. Maybe they are going alphabetically or something? Has anyone who has a last name starting with D or beyond gotten a call?

that person who posted that has odd info. on predents they list as having submitted their app in early june. If you look at person's posts they said they had an interview invite as early as august 9th. Yet their mail out date was listed as 8/12.

something doesn't seem right. typo? and really mean July?
 
I kind of wish they would have sent out a mass e-mail, this phone call thing has got me all antsy and thinking that my application has been put in the 'pfffttt' pile. Congrats to those with UoP interviews though! Sooooo jealous.
 
My last name starts with a "G" and I got the call on 8/29 for an interview date in early October. Half my app was mailed on 6/24. DAT was sent in mid July and LOEs were complete by 8/5. I applies to 9 school and this is the only interview invite I've received.

I've been looking at threads from years past about the uop interview invite process. It seems like every year people wait by their phones for months for an invite. There are some people who get into harvard, penn, columbia and other great schools without getting into UoP. It doesn't seem like stats/dat/gpa are the determining factor for them. On their website they say that they weigh personal statements and evidence of manual dexterity pretty heavily.

My brother went there and told me he thinks they do alphabetical and my last name starts with M. UOP weighs DAT extremely heavy, legacy/family history at UOP, then manual dexarity (you start working in sim labs much sooner and longer hours, 3 year school) and then other stuff.

I went to there dental sim course a few years back and they mentioned this stuff. Mainly DAT is very important, they are also big on the last two years of undergrad, so if you have a downward trend that plays against you.
 
Does anyone know if UoP will leave a message if you're not there? I won't have access to my phone for about a week :S

Yes they will. They leave a message with a number for you to call. Once you schedule an interview with them over the phone they will send you an e-mail with your interview date and basic info.

My last name starts with "P," e-submitted 7/21, mailed 8/5, got a call for a UoP interview on 9/2/ (yesterday).

Don't lose hope! You've got this.

What are your scores?
I bet they can't be any worse than mine, and I already have 2 interviews.

Keep your head up, and most importantly, stay positive.

Stressful times for everyone, even the person with 5 interviews line up! (Not me...but those of you out there, you know what I'm talking about)

I hope they are...they're one of my top choices and I'm near the end of the alphabet.

obviously not caz someone with last name G got one 8/29 and someone with last name p got one 9/2

how does that disprove ABC order? 'G' comes before 'P' and the person with the last name starting with 'G' was called before the person with the last name starting with 'P'.

yeah they basically only interview ppl who have a connection with the school in some way (i.e. family member went there, did program there, undergrad there, from cali, goes to a cali school etc.) and who will give the school an average DAT score of 20-21 for each section

FYI Im the only one in my family who ever went to graduate school....and I never been in UOP never even heard about this school before I applied...and my last name starts in G - so I guess ur WRONG!
 
For those of you who got an interview, what was your "decision date" on AADSAS?
 
Nothing from UOP ...I was in the second batch n application was complete like 7/18...should I consider this a rejection? ;( it's my top choice n
Has been so for all the three cycles I applied ;( I'm so disappointed I even improved my dat drastically

Don't worry yet man, they don't necessarily go in chronological order. I am still waiting for a phone call too and I was in the second batch with a 7/18 complete date. There are only 13 interviews there so far reported on predents. Last year it went up to 50 something.

But last year there were 354 people who said they applied to UOP. this year only 162 listed UOP. going through all the years its about 15% or so get interviews. as it currently stands at 162 that works out to be 24 people.

I was seriously going to start a thread about this but I feel like compared to last year ppl aren't using predent and sdn as much. Last year there was alot of ppl with pre December interviews but now uop has given out interviews up to November yet only 13 ppl have listed their interviews. Waddyp wit dat?
 
Congrats on getting the interview invites predents. For the record, Pacifc Dugoni usually interview around 220-250 students out of 3000 plus applicants.

Thank you! 220-250 is a such a small group, hopefully it works out Pacific is my number one.
 
I got the call for an interview at UOP yesterday and I received the 7-8 week email too.
