I wonder if the Anesthesiologist used standar ASA monitors...

It looks like Dr. Shafer has supported the anesthesiologist.

All ethics aside, since I think NONE of us would actually do this. Assuming the anesthesiologist used all ASA montiors and appropriately montiored/documented and had a/w, resuscitation drugs available, is he really medically neglient? Keep in mind he's an anesthesiologist and not a cardiologist....

I'm not saying what he did was right, not by a longshot.

But I do think there's a huge difference between Murray doing what he did for financial gain, and what this guy did for the perceived benefit of the relief of his daughter's suffering when all else failed.

It's a shade better than Murray IF he was monitoring her, and had resuscitation equipment available.

The drug was given for an unspecified genital pain for which she'd unsuccessfully sought help from top hospitals around the country, including the Stanford Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai, according to the order.

...

As a result, Markman began treating L.M. with propofol in 2007 for chronic pain relief -- an "off label" or unapproved use of the drug -- in lower doses than typically used for sedation.

Didn't think propofol had any analgesia properties. Maybe it was for sleep if she couldn't sleep due to pain.
