Hey guys,
Wanted to share some info on the interview. First I will say that everyone there is super nice and it was a great experience. I initially was worried about the cost but from talking to the students and staff I think it is worth it. Personally, I think I did amazing on the interview, it was so relaxed and laid back. It was also easy, no random questions.I am greatly considering this school now.(Though its still early).

Here are some tips for attire. Clean shaven, no one there had any facial hair lol (for those who saw my poll) Also dress to impress. Don't go for the standard black and navy suit with white dress shirt and navy tie ...etc. I had a dean come up to me and compliment my outfit while I was in the middle of an interview 🙂. Look sharp. Its NYC not the boonies.

Interviews were a first come first serve basis. Like I said before it was great. I felt like they wanted you to come there. I arrived early and was able to talk to other interviewers and it really calmed my nerves. Met some really nice people today would like to KIT.

ANyways, anything else ask away !!

what was the schedule like? and who did you had interview with? also what was the interview format (2 faculty and you, or group interview, etc)?

OK first thing. Arrive early. It says get there by 8. I was there at 7...You get to speak to the faculty who may be interviewing you. (Awesome!) Also the NYC humidity is horrible the AC and refreshments help you look fresh before you get to the interview. It is the first thing you do. After the interview you talk to the dean for a Q&A. Then tour the school and then lunch. Really laid back...very enjoyable. 1 on 1 interview. I was lucky to have Dr. Mejia who was really nice.

What exactly did you wear? 🙂

May not be the best image quality lol....

Grey Versace suit. Robert Grahm burgundy and white stripes. Red versace tie

PM me for a photo looks bad here.

Edit* LOL, didn't expect so many people to ask for a photo. 🙂

Thanks for giving us the inside color. Really appreciate it!

If you don't mind sharing, what were some of the questions you were asked? Thanks 🙂

Lol...not at all. They had an awesome sale at Saks fith ave. Thousand dollar suits for like 200-300$.

Did they make you do a supplemental application during the interview? What did it consist of?

i was there with znny @ the interview and the supplemental was just basic information. name, address, schools u applied (w/ current status).
what up znny19! 😀

I also agree with znny19, the interview was really chill. I just had mine a few days ago and the interviewers are really nice and make us interview-ees feel comfortable. The interview style is casual. Overall, a great experience. No need to feel nervous! Good luck

yes, there are options of dates. no option on time. over the phone, they tell you dates

Hi all! I'll be a student at NYUCD next summer. I'm currently on a leave and will be joining next year's 1st year class. So here is what I want to say about NYUCD. It's an amazing school!!! When I was interviewing, I interviewed at many schools but no school even compared to NYUCD. After being there for nearly an entire semester, I can say one thing: the faculty go out of their way to help you succeed. If you're having trouble learning, they have a special person you can talk to. If you ever feel sick while on campus, there is a place you can go to to lay down for a while. If you're having trouble in lab, D2 and D3 students are more than willing to help. They actually hold free sessions you can go to where they help you with your hand skills.

I was greatly impressed by NYUCD and any bad rumor I had heard about the school was put to rest once I attended.

During the first two weeks, they just let you sort of get used to the school and get to know your classmates. They have activities where you get to learn more about the campus and the city. When classes do start in sept, yes there is a lot of studying but it's all designed in a way where you can and will succeed if you manage your time well. They alter their curriculum every year to make sure that they are teaching exactly what you need for the boards.

Every single professor is great. I have nothing negative to say about a single person. They are all there to help us and they really make us feel that way. If you have any questions in particular, feel free to send me a message. Best of luck on your interviews.

Oh and the interview experience is exactly the way the OP has described it. The entire experience is great!

From what's I've heard from D3 and D4 students, they do have plenty of patients....look at it this way.....everyone completes the requirements and graduates on time.

Do you remember when you received a confirmation email after scheduling an interview? I was told that I would get a confirmation email after I scheduled last week but still haven't gotten it. 🙁 Getting a bit nervous

It was received immediately after I spoke to the guy. I would call them up ASAP.

Is anyone else hoping for an NYU interview if not only for an excuse to visit NYC? I have never been and am anxiously waiting.

any suggestions for decent hotels to stay in? like around 80-100 bucks/night?

kind of hard to find. most hotels I've found are 180+/night. I found some that are 100 but it has no private bathroom/wi-fi/t.v./other amenities.

Yeah, not sure if I'm willing to shell out 180+.

Yeah, not sure if I'm willing to shell out 180+.

nyc, boston, and LA have one of the most expensive hotels. it sucks that majority on the schools hotel list are $200 on avg

You don't have to get a room in Manhattan. For example, if you're getting off at JFK, then you can get a room somewhere nearby there and then take the A train to broadway junction and then the L train to NYU for your interview. This will cost you just $2.25 each way, so total of $4.50. You can easily get a hotel for $80 or so near JFK. But if you do decide to do this, make sure you leave your hotel early since it will be your first time traveling. If you are asked to be there at 8am, leave the hotel at 6 am, just to give yourself a lot of time.

This might be a little hard for you to do though because you're not from the area, so it might be better for you to just spend the extra money and stay nearby. If not Manhattan, you can stay in brooklyn for a decent price and the commute is pretty easy from there. Wherever you stay, make sure you know exactly where the campus is and how to get there so that you don't get nervous looking for the place on the day of your interview.

Once you get to the dental building, just go to the elevators behind the security desk (and I think the you will need to go up to the 10th floor).

A lot of students live in Queens and Brooklyn and travel daily but since you're new to the area, it's probably a better idea to spend the extra cash and stay nearby. Good Luck!

If possible, can you share what questions did you ask them?

Thanks for sharing! How many people were interviewed that day? How long was the one-on-one interview?

Sure thing! Send me all the questions you need answered! Good luck.

I'd say NYU's interview is 1 of the least stressful interview. If you cant handle the interview from this school, it only means that you didnt practice or didnt practice enough. I had Dr. More as my interviewer. Dont think you can find a more kind and gentle interviewer than him. Every1 in my group said the interview was easy. The interviewers are there to see how well you can fit into the school, not determine if you get in. The niche of NYU is that you have to be independent, have the motivation to seek help, know what you want/need, cuz this school doesnt believe in baby-sitting. That kinda explain why their class size is so huge. So if you talk about yourself along that line then it'll be good. Of course, it really is just a conversation if you guys still dont believe it. I had a script of what I was going to say for 10 standard questions. 90% of that script went un-used after the first question "tell me about yourself" Let me know if any1 want detail about interview. I'd be happy to help

I honestly think it depends on who you have as an interviewer. NYU was probably the toughest interview I've had so far. I did not feel as though I was having a "conversation". My interviewer asked a question, I answered, and we moved on. I was not able to read what my interviewer was feeling/thinking at all until the very end. It was a great experience though. Just be prepared...

Anyone know the policy for bringing a purse along, especially during the tour? I'm planning on packing flats in my bag for the tour.

You can leave your purse in the admissions office during the tour.

But I will plenty of access to my purse throughout the day, and will have the chance between my interview and the tour to change shoes, right?

Yup, unless you're the last person there, you will have to wait for the rest of the students to finish interviewing after you are done interviewing. The room where you wait at is where you can leave your purse.

I recently had an interview there. I love the school. I hope I hear good news on Dec 3rd!

I heard the class size this year will be more than 245 seats. Is this true?
