WOW. An incredible and beautiful speech by Dr. Donald Berwick at HMS Class Day 2012.
May we never forget as physicians our moral compass, that the needs of the patient come first before our own societal, economic, political, and academic interests, that we are called to be advocates for our patients outside of the medical sphere as well, that we are to use our voice and influence and to "grow some balls", so to speak, to provide what our patients, our communities, and our nation needs.

Let us remember these truths and keep them close to our hearts.

Great speech, though really I find what he reminds us about doctors (admittedly he does touch on this) is incredibly relevant to every citizen, particularly professionals.
