PAT 21
QR 20
RC 21
Bio 20
GC 23
OC 22
TS 22 (95.3 percentile)
AA 21 (91)

BIO: I'm a little disappointed here as I was aiming for the mid-20's. Most of my time was spent studying bio but no amount of work could have prepared me for some of the questions on the test. There were very few physiology/organ system questions, which is upsetting because I f**king slaved over this section. A few easy ecology questions and no detailed taxonomy questions. I probably would have gotten the same score (only for bio) had I taken the test two weeks ago.

GC: There were more calculation questions than I had expected, and none of them had you set up the solution. I can't remember much of this section.

OC: A little harder than I had expected (since almost everyone here says that the OC section is easy). Had a C-13 NMR problem that I wasn't sure about.

PAT: Again, kind of disappointed in this section. I was scoring in the mid to high-20's range on CDP. Of course, you tend to be more relaxed and calm when taking a practice test. Also, the noise other test-takers were making on their keyboards was really annoying (small disturbances really get magnified in situations like this). It also didn't help that for some reason I was reciting lines from "Pulp Fiction" in my mind.

RC: This passages were not as difficult as I had expected. The first passage dealt with epidemiology which I'm somewhat familiar with since I took some public health classes. The second passage was on bridges, which also wasn't too bad. The third was on the nervous system. Topscore passages were denser.

QR: I had no idea how to tackle some of the problems, but other than those, the section wasn't too bad; I'm pretty good with word problems. Always use shortcuts to save time.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the results. My GPA is roughly 3.71, EC is mediocre. What do you think are my chances at UW (I'm a resident)?

edit: oh, I'll be happy to answer questions. It feels really good to no longer check this forum for DAT advices!

Great scores! All above 20 is real nice.

You could schedule an appointment with Kathy Craig (admissions adviser) at UW SOD and she will tell you your chances once you present all your scores, transcripts, ECs etc.

I think you should be good to go, especially if you are a resident. Just apply early. I heard it matters for UW a lot when you apply.

haha im curious as to what lines you were reciting?

Yeah, couldn't concentrate as hard as I should have during the PAT.

It's hard to say how long I've prepared for the test. I started studying in June as I was originally planning to take the DAT at the end of Summer, but I couldn't focus on the work and rescheduled it for January. Basically from June to December I was only browsing through the material and not really laboring away, just familiarizing myself with the information. It's only since Winter break that I started going at it hardcore (about 4-5 hrs a day).

Great scores! I am getting really nervous about the competition this cycle...every DAT breakdown on here lately is 20+ across the board, I have a lot to live up to! Just hoping that you guys are only a small sample of the applicant pool 😉 In any case, congrats again, you are home-free 'til June 1! 👍

I think what we see on SDN is an over-representation of the upper end of applicants in terms of GPA and/or DAT scores. Statistics say that most people get 18-20 but I don't see too many people posting these or even putting them up on predents.com.

I didn't really realize this which was why I thought 20+ was a norm haha Then when I asked my friends what they thought was a good score they said 19. The world of the SDN forum is quite different from that of the real world IMO

congrats. great scores, good luck for rest of your application 👍

I think what makes everyone on this forum so successful is that were being selfish in a way to make ourselves better that were helping each other and not even realizing it. Anyway, enough philosophical bs, congrats on the awesome scores. Maybe one day well all meet up in school or something,

SDN ROCKS!

Awesome numbers man, its good that all your scores are well rounded, unlike my 19 on RC. Paired with your GPA I'm sure you'll get a bunch of interviews without a doubt.

Hey congrats! i think we had the same exam today. I was so nervous the entire time, i thought my heart was gonna explode. That bridges passage really threw me off for some reason. And i had no time in math (and i got an A in precal and cal). I think cuz i havent done math in 3 years it really hurt my score. Also i thought the pat section was sooooo easy which is why i dont understand y i did so bad lol. But either way i feeel freeeeeeeeee as im sure you do. SO CONGRATS on being done!!!

haha i had the same test but i had mine ~1 week ago!
