1.5 weeks before IM shelf - qbook or usmle world?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
any opinions? ive done mksap 2.5 times, read step up 3.5 times....should i do all of qbook or usmle world (the IM questions)?

If you can get through all 1500 of UW's questions, I would do them.

Complete overkill. I did MKSAP 1.25 times and thought that was way too much for this exam. The only real reading I did on my medicine rotation was bits and pieces of Case Files and I would read pertinent material from NEJM. The exam was a complete joke. I haven't received my scores yet, but I guarantee I did well because there were only about 5 questions I was unsure about. Don't sweat this one...

What did you think of MKSAP compared to the shelf?

thanks for the info. hopefully ill find my test as easy as you found yours. from what i gather, however, your experience is not the norm....
most people study quite a bit for this test.

I thought MKSAP as a nice way to prepare in the sense of doing questions again. My experiences with the Shelf Exams (Surgery, OB and Medicine) thus far have been that they are basically nothing like the practice questions (Surgery - PreTest, OB - Blueprints Case Book and Medicine - MKSAP). I think if you keep up on reading and pay attention to what your residents/attendings say on rounds, you really can pick up a lot of what is needed for these tests. I remember getting really nervous the week before this shelf because I had seen so many people reading and re-reading step-up and doing questions upon questions, but I was definitely relieved and thankful afterwards that I had not gone crazy studying for it.

I say neither. Do MKSAP a couple of times.

wth, do you actually do anything on your medicine rotation? how the hell did you get through all that. I barely got through 3/4 of step up to medicine.

regardless though, step up covered everything that was on my shelf. mksap was a big waste of time. ended up with a 93 raw on the shelf.
