1 Waitlist, the rest rejections

What is the best course of action now? How do I express my interest to the school that I am waitlisted at, without sounding desperate? I am a fairly decent applicant. 3.7/31/ecs.

Any tips?

I'd go ahead and go all out. Send a letter of intent and then regular letters of interest to follow up. Let the school know how much you like them, what you've been doing and stay in contact. It's not much, but it's staying active and it let's them know you're interested.

As much as it sucks, I'd also start thinking about reapplication. Get your ducks in a row so that if you have to reapply, you're ready.

I know how you feel boss. Last year, I applied to 16 schools and only got 3 interviews, 3 waitlists, and finally rejections.

This year, I applied to 16 schools, some same and some different. So far I got 2 interviews: 1 osteo and 1 allo. Fortunately for me, I got accepted at the osteo and just had the allo interview last Thursday. Hopefully I have the chance to choose my school, but I will not be down if it does not work out.


Like Depakote says, go all out but do have a plan B and start thinking of reapplying. Consider the schools you applied to and maybe suggest taking out some reaches for more safe bets. If possible, may do another clinical exposure activity to really strengthen your application in that area.

Well, hopefully you don't have to go through a second cycle as I know it is nerve-racking. Best of luck and hope it turns out well for you.

I'm in a similar situation- 3 interviews with 1 rejection, 1 waitlist, and waiting to hear from 1. I am waiting to hear from the last school and that will decide whether or not I need to start studying for the MCAT again and apply once more. What worries me is if I study, re-take, re-apply and then get off a waitlist in July or Aug... That would be a lot of time and money for nothing.

Lots of letters...phone calls....Sell yourself as much as you can.

See if you cant talk to the dean.

And if worst comes to worst, apply more broadly next year...NC is kind of a sucky state for med admissions.

same boat here, 2 interviews - 1 waitlist and waiting to hear back from the other. sucks, but all the best.
