Hey, I have the MCAT in a week. The most recent AAMCs I took 7 and 8. I felt that the 8 was a lot different from 3-7 and I ended up doing the same. My goal is mid-30, and 7-8 I got balanced scores, getting one point below my target score.

Should I move the test or just take it? How do you suggest I spend the last week?

I know this is in the premed forum, but I've asked this in the MCAT forum with limited responses.

Also, I'm applying next year, but I'd like to get it done with to focus on ECs and classes

You realize this thread is just going to get moved and/or merged with your other thread.

I found my real experience to be very close to the AAMC practice tests, so go for it.

If you're planning to apply this cycle you've gotta take it asap. You're getting late in the cycle, especially if you haven't submitted your AMCAS.

If you think you will be ready with extra prep, might as well reschedule for the winter or spring. If you think you are as ready as you realistically will be, go ahead and get it out of the way.

Take AAMC 11 and see what you get. If you can still get around mid-30, then just take it and get it over with. Good luck!

Sorry 😛 you made a valid point so I wanted to clarify haha

Haha you're good. I change my vote then to move it. There's absolutely no rush for you to take it (you could even push it back to next January if you wanted). So if you feel like an extra week or two will get you even 1 point higher it's definitely worth it.

unfortunately its too late for me to move back the test. its either take it and keep score, or take and void now (then retake in jan)

Wait... you mean mid-30s as in like, 35?

Dude, just take the test. Your essays and ECs are more important at that point.

I guess I better clarify. My target score: 35
AAMC 3: 30 (8,12,10) after this, I redid content review
AAMC 4: ? (12,9,?) never finished
last week/this week:
AAMC 5: 33 (11,11,11)
AAMC 7: 34 (13.10,11)
AAMC 8: 34 (12,11,11)

I did a bunch of AAMCs, and got anywhere between 29 and 32; I ended up with a 34.

Unless you have the option of taking next year, I would save the money and not switch. An extra week (even a month) is not going to help you too much.

But that depends on your studying habits/schedule.

Last year when I took the MCAT you had to reschedule your MCAT before 2 weeks of your test date. Once you are within 2 weeks of your test date, the system does not allow you to reschedule that specific MCAT. You may have no choice, unless the rules have changed. The other possibility is voiding that test and signing up for another one after, but that is pretty costly because you are paying for 2 test dates instead of one test date change fee.

The best advice anyone has ever given me was "you will never feel ready". Based on your mcat scores, looks like you are ready even if you dont feel it.

Treat the exam like any other practice and you will do fine.

Don't prolong. I'd say you have good momentum right now to do well on it. 👍

Yeah, I've talked to several people I know, and most have said to take it.
I think what I'm going to do is take AAMC 11 tomorrow, and I'll decide from there. I'll let you guys know!

just took aamc 11, got a 35 (14,10,11). I think I will go ahead and take it.
