I fell behind in DIT and now it doesn't look like I'll finish till Thursday. That leaves me 4 days till my exam on June 14th. I wanted to go over ALL of FA again before taking the exam, which is probably doable...but the thing is....I still have 800 questions left of UWORLD!!!!! Should I just give up on it?

I got a 221 on my last NBME (when I was about halfway through with DIT) and haven't taken one since. My goal is 230 (originally it was 240), but now I feel like there's so much more I can learn from UWorld and FA, but I simply don't have the time! 🙁

I can't postpone it. Advice?

Right now, I'm attempting to complete two days worth of DIT in just one, but I'm so slowwwwww

My advice would be to ditch DIT and finish as much UW as you can.

UW was the most helpful thing for my step 1 which I took 2 days ago.

I agree with grrrr. Go with UW it is the most helpful. Keep your eyes set on your original goal of 240. If you go into the test wanting a higher score, you will push yourself to do so. Good luck.

I'm in the same situation, taking too long to get through DIT. I'm taking Step 1 in a few days and just didn't do the renal and GI lectures in the last two days since I'm not as weak in those areas. But I made sure to do the heme lecture on the last day since I'm weak in that area. So basically, look at the topics of the last few days of lectures and only go through the lectures in subjects that you are really weak in.

This is good advice. If i could, I would probably take back the time I spent on areas that I was strong on.

Ok, I thought I'd ask on this thread. I have a touch under 2 weeks (6/18) until the big day, and I was wondering what you guys recommend I do? I did DIT, finished UWorld, took some NBME, UW tests and I'm averaging around 238 more or less. I'm really pushing for that 240? Recommendations? Thoughts? I'm almost 75% done with Goljan Path... not sure what to do at this point, my mind is sorta going blank...

i was in your position like 5 days ago...so here's what i came up with, not sure if it helps. 1. I found my worst 3 subjects (pharm s/e, anatomy, and genetics) then hit these first. I ended up realizing pharm is better to revist each day, so i alotted time each day for that (probably good rote memorization like pharm/micro). 2. I made a schedule to go through all of FA again (modified the taus 2 weeks plan). I have annotations from UW, and whatever, and it definitely definitely helps to go through these again, it seems like alot of it 'sticks'. 3. I decided to redo my UW marked questions. I usually wake up with 2 blocks, and purposely try to blaze through them. As I review, I only write stuff down I missed the first time/don't remember...the rest I just go through in my head. 4. I'm making a "final review packet" of high yield stuff that I just don't seem to remember. I plan on making it through FA in 10-11 days, then reviewing that packet + any loose ends the final couple of days. Sorry if that was a ramble, hope it helps somewhat. I think alot of people go through this...you finish UW early like everyone stresses and it's like...uh, now what?

More uworld and more first aid. That is always the answer. 😉

Thanks guys! I think I'll go over the questions I missed and do more FA and consolidate my weaknesses via Goljan Path. I'll have to take a look at Taus' 2 week method as well.

Until you break 240-250, you're probably leaving a lot of path questions on the table. I think this is the best area to attack, especially if it's not your highest scoring subject.

Make path your best subject and your practice scores should shoot up.

I think I may differ with some of these recommendations, but there are a thousands of ways to make potatoes so I won't claim to be right.

I would stick with DIT, only because being in a panic, you may find yourself all over the place. I would stick with it and get as much out of it as possible. I just took mine saturday and there were quite a few questions from the last couple of days, that were not even in First Aid might I add.

I'm not saying I got to my goal(230), heck I may have even failed, but I couldn't have even hoped for the former if it wasn't for the DIT in the last week. If you can find some time to get through those last few days of DIT, maybe 100-200 pages of first aid at the end of each remaining day. Careful skimming for missed nuggets, don't go stopping on subjects you already got cold.

DIT may save you. At least the little study guide quizzes go back over earlier materials so you constantly hit the high yield stuff, rather than forgetting about them. Also, Remember you are doing first aid with those guys. Take out the each day and review the HYQs and make sure you do those.

Doubling up is not the best thing to do with DIT IMHO. You still need to hit up some questions. I would say 2-3 blocks a day and do a quick review of the wrong ones, only the wrong ones. If you made a silly mistake, be glad and kick yourself for not paying attention, but don't go looking into something unless you had some true knowledge deficit and had no idea what you were doing. For the lucky educated guess questions, Just hope the thought process is still there on test day. If it was educated, review the "eeny, meeny, miney, moe" ones for sure, cuz you could've gotten them wrong.

Just my 2 cents, and again I hope I was able to at least pass the thing. There were many things not even in first aid on my particular exam unfortunately, some of them were mentioned in the DIT lectures. If you get the same test form that I got you'll see what I'm talking about.

Wish you the best of luck, you can still get your 240. If all else fails I would just push the date if possible. I wish I had 221, my last NBME ended up at 217 😡 but I also wasn't finished with DIT(still had 3 days left) and I will admit I felt stronger after just those extra days. They set up that lecture sequence for a reason.

BTW...My test was heavy on Immuno and Hematology. I think hematology was the very last lecture?
