I applied this cycle to dental school (19 schools actually) and I think I'm on the bottom end of the spectrum (predents profile link below). My overall DAT scores are decent but my RC score is 38 percentile and my state college likes high RC scores.

Anyway I like to have a backup plan so I was wondering when I should apply for a 1 year masters, and if I should. Currently I just started my senior year of college, and another option for me is to stay an extra 9th semester. However, I really don't know if there will be that many sciences left for me to take though.

Note: I put my stats in the wrong year, I'm applying in the current 2010 cycle.

I think it varies quite a bit by the school, most deadlines for graduate programs can be as early as Dec 1st for the proceeding fall, others are later in the spring. I was in a similar situation as you, only I had a lower undergrad GPA. (I don't think you are in as bad a spot as you think) I did a 2 years Master's program worked for a year and now reapplying.
I think having the graduate classes will help you in two ways, first that they look good, usually there is more work required and that looks good as a way to improve. Second, like you mentioned, a 9th semester might not leave you many options for classes, whereas a Master's may allow you to take the same class at a higher level, proving that you can handle a tough class and do well. Just my two cents!
