Who here has NEVER cheated on anything their whole life, whether it be with a cheat sheet, putting equations in a calculator, copying homework, giving your teacher a fake excuse for a late paper, etc...?

I'm just going to reply, because otherwise you're going to have a boring blank thread with no replies🙂 Trying to get ahead by all means is human nature...it is what you learn from how you felt when you did it that defines the person you are.

did you really expect to see anyone ???
well...didn't cheat on DAT at least 🙂

No, I don't.

But Hotty claims to have never cheated in any way, so it made me wonder if I am just overly cynical about the world. Doesn't look like it though

Are you serious??? I would expect that NOBODY would have cheated! It completely blows my mind that this is even a question worth asking but for completely different reasons than what you guys have been responding to so far. No, I have never cheated on a test. I have never cheated on a paper. I have never copied answers for a homework. Really, are you guys serious? You cheat on exams??? Is this a regular thing or has it only happened once or twice? Wow... just wow...

Whoa there...I believe the OP said EVER. I copied homework all the time in junior high because I was lazy. That would be considered cheating. So basically you are trying to tell us that you have never been told an answer to any homework problem in your entire life. You have never had your parents help you more than they should have on a school project?

I do not and will not cheat anyore as it is something I have grown out of (as soon as I got into high school). But I find it hard to believe anyone that says they are perfect.

ditto...the aforementioned definition of cheating would definitely include these things, and everyone has done it. If you can't admit to it, I think would be being a little self righteous.

This thread is clearly a way for the OP to talk about how great he/she/it thinks they are, morally. I do my siblings HW/projects for them sometimes when they come home from 7 hours of school, followed by 6 hours of various sports practices. I guess this means I'm helping them cheat, whatever.

Actually the OP is doing an experiment based on a thread that involved a highly self-righteous tattletale.

This is a really stupid thread, it really doesn't pertain to getting into D-school. I am not saying this because I cheat, just because it would be a service to SDN as a whole not to have threads as useless as this one.

I'd have to beg to differ on that one. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think it is refreshing to depart from the usual "oh my God" threads, and actually address some deeper issues that everyone is dealing with.

right. this thread is really deep.

I think I am officially not addicted to SDN anymore. I need to study P-Chem......

Easy Amsie, in light of another SDNer's statement that she has never done anything wrong in the slightest, I'm trying to figure out if I am morally corrupt because I and everyone i know has at some time in their life done something questionable. And I still think my friends and I are moral people, I just think nobody is perfect and life isn't black and white.
For example say you didn't notice a section of math homework one day in 8th grade, so you copy your friend's. Or you worked all night on a problem and couldn't get it so the next day your friend explains it to you and tells you the answer. Cheating both, and while I didn't make a practice of it, I know I've done things like this on occasion growing up.

This thread is a spin-off of another thread. I'm just curious. If you aren't interested, you don't have to read it. Bye bye 🙂

ps - and if you say you are 100% pure, I believe you. Good job. Not here to dis, just wanna know.

I want to say that I am 100% pure, but then someone will remind me of some mistake that I made way back.

That brings me to this point. I haven't done anything like that where I didn't admit to it.

So no today and in the past few years(college), I haven't cheated. I have before but I couldn't live with myself and admitted to the teacher. That bad feeling in my gut is why I haven't done anything questionable since.

I think I am rambling.......

The Webster Dictionary defines the word cheat as such:

(v) deceive; beguile; defraud. 👎 swindle; fraud

I don't see how getting help on your homework fits this category? The purpose of homework is to practice and work through problems until you obtain an understanding. Receiving this kind of help is not cheating. Even if you don't arrive at the answer on your own, you receive information which you can go over until you understand it. Now, if you are stealing someone's homework, making a copy and turning it in under the premise that you have put forth an effort; that's cheating.

Ummmm...😕

I guess the correct answer is no,im not. I dont think I'd believe anyone that said they were, either(do you really remember that time in 2nd grade when you didnt do your math HW and copied some from a friend? cause i sure as hell dont)

maybe for the sake of making this thread more interesting, let's settle for cheating in college courses. i don't cheat in my courses b/c most of the time if i don't know the answer then i'm just as likely to get a wrong answer from the person next to me.

I rarely cheated in high school because I never care too. In college, cheating seldom works in my favor. I use to cheat when I really had no understanding of the subject, and I would spend so much time trying to hide my cheat sheet that I never got a good look at them. One time it worked out for me. I was sitting in such a position to have a clear view of a person with similar test version; I passed the class. I am not a bad person. You have to do what is necessary. In the end, every one takes the equalizer: DAT. There is no cheating there. I got my 24 AA.

Never cheated on exams, and I never will... But in high school my gf did my homework for me sometimes..

I purposely picked something that was pretty gray, but at my school that was considered cheating. You could work together on homework, but you weren't supposed to get an answer from someone - they should explain and you come up with the answer on your own. A fairly idealistic rule, in my opinion.

that one used to come up like twice a week... not just for papers though, i used the excuses for homework assignments, skipping classes, missing 2/3 of class, sleeping in class, exams, labs, etc

If anyone here went to high school then they have cheated before.

People questin the validity of threads like this, but why not? Who cares if a thread is up about cheating. Better than another thread about NYU and how awesomely expensive it is to live in Manhattan.

I never did- seriously. I always attended really, really small schools, all the way through college, so you just couldn't. Maybe I'm old and out of touch but I never cheated and I never let anyone copy my homework or cheat off of me. I will work with other people on homework/lab reports whatever but I'm WAY to paranoid to flat out cheat.

Actually the OP is doing an experiment based on a thread that involved a highly self-righteous tattletale.

Which thread are you talking about? I would like to read it.

What about letting someone else cheat off of you, does that count.

Just because people aren't responding in droves it doesn't mean there aren't a lot of people who are "100% pure". As soon as I read the OP's question I knew that as soon as someone said they were "100% pure" they would be accused of being "self righteous." Most people probably realized the same and didn't even post because they didn't want to face the internet flaming by those who wish to justify their own weaknesses by concluding that, "everyone is doing it." If you ask a question and someone responds truthfully that does not mean they are self righteous. Their only other alternatives would be to lie and say they have cheated (a rather ironic response) or not answer.

ditto...the aforementioned definition of cheating would definitely include these things, and everyone has done it. If you can't admit to it, I think would be being a little self righteous.

Why the violin?

i cheated on a spelling test in first grade. it was a personalized spelling test and we chose our own spelling words. while most kids chose words like "it," "the," and "go," i chose "alligator." during my test, the teacher left to discipline a kid, and i took a little peak at her spelling list...haha. never felt so guilty in my life. went home and told my mom that day. ahh...what i would give to go back to those days

when i was in middle school, i sold some hw. nothing big. we just immigrated to america and i didn't want to ask my parents for money.

i had some boundaries tho. i was once offered $40 for a project... and, yeah, that i definitely turned down.

i never did it after that. after middle school, your actions mean a lot more and the consequences are far greater.

I "cheated" off of brian reife all the time in high school. copied his calc homework like everyday and still wound up pulling off a 4 on the AP. suck on that mrs. hurrican! how you like me know?!

but seriously, when i look in the mirror i don't see a cheat.
i see pride. i see power. i see a bad-ass mother who don't take no crap off nobody!

i'm a cheater!

Just saying it's a pity you've never had cocaine. If you tried it you might like it. All the cool kids are doing it. and supermodels.

(I have posted out of boredom. I do not endorse the use of cocaine or any other narcotics, unless you are prescribed said narcotics by a qualified health professional or if you are a supermodel.)

Coooool Runnings? I love movie quotes, i tried to start a thread in the off topic forum but non else posted. Boooooo all of you.
