Is 1000 words typical for the PS +/- 200 words?

I think they count characters, not words. Mine came out to be around 3500 characters, which is on the short side, but I've been doing just fine this cycle.

Yeah I know they count characters. Just curious from a word count point of view.

My work computer doesn't have word so I'll let you know what my word count is in a few hours when I get home.

Character limit is 5300 and I normally type around 5.8 characters/word including spaces and punctuation (this is actually something really good to know when typing secondaries and such).

Mine came out to be 863 words and 4,987 characters. (5.78 characters/word)

Seems like the most someone could get would be around 960 words if you use 5.5 characters/word (including spaces and punctuation) so 1,000 could be a little long.

I agree with the above person that the final product should be a little over 900 words. However, when you start writing your PS, your first draft will likely need to be much longer (some suggest 2 or even 3 times as long) and then condensed/cut. Don't really worry about length now, it's easier to cut (though sometimes not easy after tiring work on a section) than to try to add to something incomplete.

My PS was 1010 words and I, too, have done very well this cycle thus far. As long as you're able to tell your story (without rambling) within the allotted character limit, you should be fine. Good luck 👍
