There was a topic about this in the veterinary forums, but it was really old and not many people check over there - hopefully moving this here is a-ok. With that said...

Anyone else planning on going to the symposium? I'm working on setting up a small group of students from my university and am pretty excited for it. Registered yesterday and the cheque is going out soon. 🙂

My group will most likely be coming a bit early and hanging around Knoxville for most of Friday - haven't decided what we're going to do, but the zoo seems like a likely choice for a bunch of pre-vets. If any other SDNers are attending and want to meet up (or save some money booking hotels together!), we should PM. 🙂 And I'd love suggestions on other things to do and affordable places to eat, if anyone lives nearby.

I'm signed up for the camelid and fish labs. Hopefully I get in! :xf:

Wooo! Finally someone posted about this!

I really want to go and have been looking forward to it ever since I went last year. I was the only Pre-Vet there...which made it a little overwhelming at times but, everyone was so excited I made it out. I met a few SDNers too 🙂 It just comes down to money. Since I'm doing a rehab internship in South Africa in May, I need to save every penny I can get.

If I do end up going, I am really considering the Tiger Haven trip or the necropsy lab. All of them look very interesting though!

Also, I love the idea of booking hotels together. Saving money is one of my favorite things 🙂

I really (reallyreallyreally) want to go -- and UTK is one of the schools I applied to, so I'd love a chance to visit campus -- but I don't know if I can swing it with my winter class schedule.

Boo, the Tiger Haven trip is already full. 🙁 And they aren't open to the public at all, so we can't even visit in off-hours. Bummer. I'm intrigued by the darting lab, though. I'd love to tranq some "unsuspecting hay bales". 😀

Dangggg! Well, I may not go now 🙁 That was my main selling point and told myself I would only go if I could get into that lab. My current research project/internship involves tigers...sad.

Yeah, the Tiger Haven lab filled up pretty much instantly I think. I know I checked the website right after it came online and there were spots, and then the next time I glanced at it, BAM, all full. Too bad it has such limited spots.

unsuspecting hay bales

Poor things! I'd really love to do the darting lab, too, but it interferes with the fishies... maybe if I can't get into that one I'll switch to it, since there seems to be lots of space. Projectiles and I always get along well.

...youuuu both knooowww you want to goooo. ;p

i really want to go, but I also really want the extra couple of days at home before I come back to Grenada. And it means that I'll have traveled the week after christmas, then for new years, for that weekend, and at the end of the week to come back here :-/

That is a crapton of travelling! Definitely not envious of that part of going abroad for school.

I'm finally fully registered and confirmed! Doing darting and camelids since the fishies did end up filling up. Getting excited for the trip. 😀
