Depends mostly on where you want to go. If you are aiming for schools with higher stats, I would suggest applying and preparing to retake the MCAT. If you are aiming for schools that accept students with similar stats, then just apply broadly and you probably have a shot at getting in somewhere.
 
Pcom and Rowan may be tough with that MCAT. If you don't mind going to a mid or low tier school than just apply broadly like others have said and you will be fine.

I also TA'd chemistry 1 and 2

do I retake that? my number one choice is RowanSOM. Do I still have a chance there? Where else do I apply if I dont retake?

You apply EVERYWHERE and be happy where ever you get in. You cannot be picky.
 
also make sure you apply as soon as AACOMAS opens up. Get everything sorted out and prepared by May so that when it opens up in June you can send out your apps ASAP
 
I had a lower GPA and MCAT and have one acceptance so far. Definitely apply early and to a lot of schools and you should get at least one acceptance!
 
Absolutely apply!! I know people with worse ECs and similar scores that have gotten in. Apply very broadly if you have the means! And by that, I mean to basically every DO school available.
 
Your score is in the <10th %ile for Rowan. I cannot recommend applying there or any other MD school.

You're fine for most DO programs. But if you're boning for MD, you need a retake and some significant improvement.

Hi! I didn't get a chance to read all of the replies but I thought I'd tell you my input since I was in a similar boat with my MCAT. I received a 26 on both mcats I took and, like you, was very disappointed. I have a 3.8 cGPA and a 3.7 sGPA. I applied to both MD and DO.

My list was as follows:
KCUMB--accepted
OUHCOM--accepted
PCOM--II (did not attend)
WVSOM--II (did not attend)
Marian U--II (did not attend)
VCOM-Auburn and Carolinas--II (did not attend)
DMU--still waiting for word

UC--rejected
SLU--rejected
Creighton--waitlisted
UK--rejected
IU-rejected
Toledo--still waiting for word
Wright State--still waiting for word

Overall, my DO applications were very successful, and the only reason I didn't attend many of the interviews I received was because KCUMB and OUHCOM were my top two DO schools since I have family near both. MD was not as successful, but still received an II from Creighton although I was waitlisted.

Some notes I was aware of:
KCUMB only asks for at least a 7 in all sections on the mcat.
OU super scores all mcat attempts. So they take the highest score you got in each section from any attempt and adds those together for the score they use when evaluating your application.
I had sent in my primaries by June 6 and had received most secondaries by the end of July and then had those all sent in within two weeks of receiving them and was receiving II by the first week of August!

I basically have the same story as lexierae494, except my AACOMAS application wasn't verified until October, so I was a little later in the game. I have also been out of school since 2006. I got interview invites at: Liberty, LECOM-Erie, Marian, DMU, Midwestern CCOM, RVUCOM, OU-HCOM, Rosalind Franklin (MD), PCOM (did not attend), VCOM-Virginia (did not attend). I was accepted at 6 of the schools I interviewed at, and wait listed at the other 2. I was also accepted at MSUCOM (they don't interview).

I wouldn't recommend applying to OU-HCOM unless you're an Ohio resident, since about 97% of their students are Ohio residents.

And don't follow my example... apply early!! It took about 7 weeks for my AACOMAS application to get verified. If you submit in June, hopefully you won't run into that.

I got in with a 26, but it was in 2011... I know the scores have increased since then...
