11th Annual Exotics Symposium - UMCVM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I won't be at the symposium, but If there are other SDNers going who want to meet up and say hi, I'd love to do lunch. 🙂

Are you going to Mizzou for the heck of it?

Sent from my DROID RAZR using SDN Mobile

I really want to go, but I'm having surgery on my shoulder like 2 days before that 🙁
Does anyone from Mizzou know if they'll offer a webinar version of it?

That I don't know, but one of the chairs might be coming to my house tonight so I will ask.

Is this only open to vet students, or is it open to pre-vet students as well? (Assuming vet students, but would definately be interested in attending if not!)

She ended up not coming over tonight, so I'll ask both questions in the morning and give you guys an update 🙂

Prevets are welcome to come!

As of right now, they are not planning on streaming or recording any of the lectures, but I've implanted the idea so hopefully they look into it lol.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm super excited now 😀

Thanks scb! I hope they do - I was super stoked when I read the lecture titles for Saturday, but 2 days after surgery, I'm going to be in no shape for driving 8 hours to Mizzou.

Time off approved and I am good to go! I'm flying into/out of St. Louis and will be visiting the zoo Friday or Monday, so if anyone else is free and wants to do that too, let me know and we can meet up. I promise I am nice and do not bite despite my mosquito handle/icon. 😉

So this will be my first veterinary symposium... What do people wear? Business-y clothes, like wool slacks and a button up shirt? or more casual?

I definitely want to look professional as I will be interviewing there shortly after 🙂

psorophoraferox- St. Louis Zoo is definitely worth a visit, though it may be cold! Still a lot to see indoors though. I think I am working both of those days, but will let you know if I end up being free (I live nearby).

Dvmdreamer, I'm not sure as I haven't been to one either... But it's going to be fun!

This Saturday is my husband's birthday so I will probably be going to dinner with him, but if anyone wants any suggestions of where to eat or visit while you're here, I can give you some well-liked options.

Oh, and is anyone doing a wetlab? I'm in the aquatic anatomy one!

I searched for veterinary symposium dress codes, and it appears casual is typically ok. So I think I'm going to do slacks and a collared shirt.

I decided not to do any wet labs and just do more of a sampling of the various topics, although they all sounded like fun!

Most people dressed casual last year, but nothing wrong with dressing it up a notch. 😉 No wet labs for me this year.
