It happens, as long as the rest of your answers were coherent and thoughtful you should be fine. They understand that you are nervous and one bad answer (which may not be as bad as you thought) is not going to kill you.

Relax. I had a horrible interview at one school where my interviewer said something to the effect of "good luck next cycle" and I'm currently attending that same school. I think some of the faculty want to see how you hold up under pressure.

I hate this rationale. You’ve shown you can handle pressure through your app. The focus of the interview shouldn’t be to test the interviewee, it should be to gauge their personality and intentions.

I agree entirely. It's not a fun experience to go through and it gave me a very low opinion of that particular faculty member.

I know! I have yet to see this person around, but I know they still work there. I have such a low opinion of them after that interview. That was only one of the many things they did that day that made me lose any respect that I could have had for them.

If I had a dollar for everytime a student told me they seriously thought they blew it in the interview.....only to end up getting accepted from that school.
