Mine just didn’t raise tuition for the first time in what I assume is ever. They acted like they were doing it to be nice what with the apocalypse and all, but I assume Covid got in the way of whatever statue, fountain, or other pointless endeavor designed to justify raising tuition this year.

We got partially refunded for parking, but then they raised parking fees 50% for the following semester...

My school increased tuition by like 5%. Apparently the decision was made pre-covid.

Basic, hard truth: med school is about paying for those letters "MD" after your name.

Also, no incentive for med schools to cut tuition when demand has skyrocketed in the form of med school apps (from what I've heard).

For me the funniest thing is premeds and M1's acting like they're a valuable resource and their time spent during school needs to be carefully curated to maximize their benefit to society.

So you have been reading *that thread* 😉

no increase in tuition for the entire next year. Although they had decided to increase it before COVID, they decided not to around June end.

Our tuition didn't change, but... they cut a bunch of resources and made changes to the curriculum because they "didn't have enough money" to do what had been done previously.

They also made staff go on mandatory furloughs to try to avoid laying people off.

Oh... & they also made us sign an agreement that we wouldn't ask for refunds this year due to getting less for our tuition than we would have pre-covid. Of course, they also won't admit that it is most definitely "less", & keep repeating that we "will be prepared" for the rest of our training.

If I could go back in time (& knew that Covid was coming), I'd be strongly tempted to pick the medical school with the biggest endowment - not the one I thought I liked the best based on the limited interview/second look exposure.

How can you all expect a refund when they need to buy zoom for everyone and curate fine, highly curated medical education lectures of only the best quality.

Thank you for your service. My dad was a Navy Engineer for 28 years. He was really happy when I received my II at USUHS early last year, but I decided that it wasn't for me. Hope you get to rotate through Balboa or Oceanside. The brandnew hospital at Camp Pend is amazing.

I was scheduled to rotate at balboa for 3 months but covid trashed our schedules. We’re waiting to find out our new schedules now. Praying I still get to go to balboa. I had to transfer a couple patients to balboa when I was enlisted. It’s a nice facility.
