Well, I only ever took the first test (and it was a long time ago), but I just looked it up because I was curious.
The point of that question was that it was one of those "what does the author think?" or "what is the author's perspective?" They should have made it more clear instead of just asking "Implicit in the passage is the assumption that:" The tone of that choice "Anyone who doesn't agree with the author is stupid" actually sounds a lot like the author, who used such phrases as "Hey, we don't need no stinking papers!," "What a sad joke," "other dolts go out and buy these dogs...," etc. The author clearly thinks that anyone that doesn't agree with him/her is an idiot.
I don't recall if I got it right or wrong, but it does make sense when you look at it that way. If you want to see an IMPOSSIBLE verbal passage that I really think is totally screwed up, just try the first passage in EK verbal test 5 in their VR 101 Passages. I've had several people try it, and no one can seem to get more than 2 or 3 right out of 7 (i.e., it's random - none of us even got the same 2 or 3 right!). I'd love to hear from someone that did well on that passage.
