Hello Everyone. I wanted some input on whether or not I can gt accepted with a 19 AA DAT.

oGPA: 3.54
tsGPA : 3.43
DAT (AA,PAT, TS): 19, 18, 19
oCHEM DAT: 21
gCHEM DAT: 20
BIO DAT: 18
RC: 18

I worked as a dental assistant for over 2 years, have many shadowing hours, community service/ extracurriculars. but will my DAT cause any issues?? should I retake? I still haven't received any interviews and got one rejection letter. what do I do if I dont get in? HELP!

From my understanding a 19 should be fine. Just make sure you applied to the schools that have average DAT scores around a 19.

I applied to the following schools

Nova (rejection already received via mail)
Detroit Mercy
Indiana
Tufts
ADSOH
UofM
LECOM
Marquette
both Midwesterns
Case Western
Temple

I was surprised by the rejection letter... felt like it was a bit too early in the cycle

It's kind of late to retake this cycle, though you absolutely could. People also get in with 19's all the time, so that's a tough question. If it was me (not saying this is correct advice) I would not retake. However, if you don't get in anywhere, if you can get a 19 this year, then you can absolutely low key study another year and get 21+ next year.

But isn’t kind of odd to get a rejection letter this early? Should I reach out?

Honestly, I have no idea! I am in the same boat as you, applying for the first time, feeling out the process.

If I was on an admission committee, I would sequentially apply increasingly limiting filters to the apps to thin the herd. You may have triggered an early filter for the school, ie sGPA DAT combo. Who knows.

That’s a possible explanation. who knows, maybe we’ll hear back soon. I know people that got in to the 2023 class two weeks ago when classes already started.

it's rare, but it happens
reach out after the cycle is finished if you don't get in
they are busy right now
and contacting them will likely not change your situation

Your stats are good. You can definitely get in with a 19 (I did). Be patient. You’ll hear back. People are interviewing well into January and February.

Fingers crossed! Do you mind me asking where you got accepted?

Here’s a question, would you all recommend a masters if I don’t get in this cycle? Even tho i don’t have a low gpa.

I think a year of interesting work (which you can discuss in essays, interviews), saving money, volunteering, studying for a DAT retake, would all be time better spent than pursuing an MA. Just one dude's opinion.

I have the same GPA and same AA. I wouldn't suggest going for a master's. I already received 1 interview.

don't worry about getting a rejection from Nova. I know they go through their applications really quickly.
they'll invite you to an interview or just reject you.

they interview hundreds of students

you don't need to do a masters. your sGPA is fine!
only thing is to wait it out. interviews are given out until February/march so you still have time.
other thing I would do to improve your application is retaking the DATs but I wouldn't worry about that now
just be patient!

I just got my second interview today. Your stats are very very similar to mine aside you were a dental assistant and I wasn’t.
