My first post... Just got waitlisted for the school I had the best odds with. 5 rejections. Nothing from 3 schools since secondary.

How do I improve my application? Below is a list of what was on 2010-2011 application:
- MCAT: 29O (VR-6, PS-11, BS-12)
- cGPA 3.4, BCPM 3.45. Bad sophomore year resulted in cGPA of 2.55.
- undergraduate research award
- MS in Microbiology (thesis based), GPA 4.0
- 1 first-author publication, poster & oral presentations, research awards
- 5 years basic science research, .5 years biomedical research, clinical research 6 months
- teaching assistant for 2.5 years
- shadowed neurosurgeon 3 months
- volunteer at hospital 6 months
- work experience in restaurant industry 10 years

For the next round, I will have more biomedical research experience, although unfortunately will not have another publication. Will have another 6 months of volunteer experience and another year as a waitress.

Best to re-take the MCAT? VR score hurts. My previous expired score was 30Q - straight 10s.

I will definitely change the essay. I don't know how to "market" myself very well.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
