Hey,
Is there anyone, specifically from ICO and PCO, that is willing to sell or provide me with their notes (especially biochem, optics, and physiology) t. I know both of these institutions have a notetaking program. Or can someone recommend me books to get some knowledge on the course material before I enter my first year (I've already heard about the horror).
Thank you much.

P.s. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL ON YOUR FINALS!:luck:

you should enjoy life before your first year... seriously.

It boggles my mind, looking back, to think that I shared the same mindset as you, wanting to get a jump on learning. Now... any and all free time is a treat, and should be celebrated accordingly. Enjoy your freedom... before it disappears!

I am a 1st year ICO student. I've got all of my notes from 1st quarter neatly boxed on my floor right behind me.

For $100, I will slap you for asking me for my notes. Then I will not give them to you because you're completely insane for wanting to pay me for my notes so that you can read them before you start classes.

You may want to check their grades before using their notes...just a thought

LMFAO!!!!😀

Hmm...definitely not a nerd here. Just hate chemistry and trying to brush up before I walk into biochem blindly since I didn't take it in undergrad. Anyway, I already had a year off from school (graduated May 2005 ..I'm 23 now)...so to all you burned out over achievers getting into grad school at 16, that is what you get! Anyway, I am hoping to get into ICO/PCO fall 2007, so it will be officially 2 years out of school by then. Believe me though, I had enough fun during that time off and am now ready to get focused again. PCO wants me to at least take some courses before I go back into school to get me "ready" but I'd rather read about things I will need to know in optometry school. So thanks for the notes people..NOT! GRR..guess I gotta find books online!

well i don't go to pco or anything... but my advice would be to just take biochem and relax. A lot of my classmates didn't take many of the upper level sciences and it doesn't suck much more for them then it does for me (who took them alllll).

Taking biochem costs $$$ but it's easier then reading the entire textbook.

although if i were you i'd read a real book. i miss those.

Physio, biochem and optics are the three easier classes in the first quarter at ICO. Anatomy and sensory (especially anatomy) are tougher and take up more of people's time.

The tests are mostly off of the profs' powerpoints, and not out of textbooks. I don't own any of the "required" textbooks.

basically, you don't need to brush up to prepare. You just need to steel yourself for tons and tons of memorization.

I'm one of those classmates who took only the minimum requirement upper-level science courses (since I was a liberal arts major), and I didn't have any more difficulty than my more science-oriented peers.

The thing that kills you in optometry school isn't the material itself, it's the crazy volume of it. Try to enjoy the next few months before you dive in. 🙂

Anatomy is tough, but sensory??? I thought biochem was worse then sensory. Anyway, even biochem was not that hard. Fall quarter 1st year was by far my best GPA while at ICO..well, until 4th year when all you have in clinic and if you get honors in clinic you make the Deans list. Thats the best.

Just grab a biochem text and look through the basics. Heck if you really want you can go to the NBEO website and see what they recommend looking over for biochem-related info. Also, be careful what you ask for - ethics is a big deal in any health profession. ICO is pretty adamant about the fact that lectures of property of ICO profs and the school itself.
