The first time I went to college, I did so without any work ethic. I skated by and just barely passed most of my classes. I did this for a few years and I'm not proud of it. I realized I needed to change things in my life so I joined the navy and served as a nuclear engineer. After I got out (honorable discharge), I went back to a different school and this time I tried as hard as I could. I'm applying but I'm really scared that my grades from the first college will make me an instant no. You can clearly see a 5 year gap between when 1 school ended and the other one began. In my application, the GPA's for the first school are in the 2.4 range. The GPA's for the recent school are around 3.5, and I got a 28 on the MCAT. I wrote about my military experience in my personal statement. What are the chances that a school will take a look at the low numbers from the first school and not even look at the rest of it?
