If I got 2 F's in the same exact class (say English 1) if I take it and get an A would that replace both F's or no?

How would I replace both F's according to the DO grade replacement policy?

As someone accepted to a DO school, this thread really irritates me... It's these types of threads that give DO applicants a bad name, and although I do feel for those that grade replacement affected this year, I'm so glad that grade replacement is no more.

As someone accepted to a DO school, this thread really irritates me... It's these types of threads that give DO applicants a bad name, and although I do feel for those that grade replacement affected this year, I'm so glad that grade replacement is no more.

Not that late, apparently it was changed this year. And Fs were bc of circumstances outside life. Why do you look forward to ppl's failures?

I understand what you feel, but I don't think that they are making it harder on purpose. I think it's just a principle of supply and demand. There are thousands of candidates with above average stats. Still hundreds of candidates with low 3.0 GPA get in.
I am sure that even without grade replacement you can get in.

Congrats again but you have a great Mcat score though. Your Mcat score could have forgiven your past transcript sins. I'm not saying you shouldn't encourage OP but your circumstances are different.

They haven't taken the MCAT yet. Nothing wrong with encouraging. There is ways to fix.

Well with 2 Fs I’m not sure you’ll be getting into those “easier to get in” schools, especially with an attitude.

No, not everyone deserves to be a doctor and there are lots of people with hard lives that have good grades and get accepted. Some of my classmates fall into this category and are very inspiring. The schools don’t owe you anything.

I'll give you insight I don't think have yet.

There is no such thing as a medical school that is easy to get into with "two F's in a single class".

Be careful for underestimating your competition, as even the "easiest" medical schools in the country require a minimum cGPA of 3.0. With many schools have 7,000-15,000 applicants for 100-300 seats, you gotta be on top of your game from now on.

Best thing you can do is keep moving forward. There is nothing you can do about your past F's other than learn from it and do better (by do better I mean you need to aim for straight A's now in all your courses). If you retake that course again for a third time you need to get an A in it. If you can't get an A in it don't take it again. There are certain classes I avoided in college because I knew I wouldn't do well in them (i.e Calculus). Know yourself, dig down deep, and do better! Don't give up.

I got 2 F's and it took me an extra year to get my GPA above a 3.4. I did get straight A's for that extra year at 20 credits each though. It's possible, just don't mess up. One of my F's were in English as well lol.
